If you have a kid, who’s crying over a snow day, then you might want to find some counseling for them.

I see tons of kids on TikTok still taking about 2020. They want to be back in 4th grade

Tons? Unlikely.

What are you talking about wanting to be in 4th grade? Don’t follow what saying? Is it they think HS is hard? That would have been case with or without snow days or covid. Can someone explain what poster is saying?

Ignore them - they’ve obviously been day drinking.

Or just to Arizona or Florida if don’t want to deal with this. Trade to complain about heat or hurricane closures. Or move to mountains in where 10” is nothing. If you live here, you know this is expected weather and closures will happen. Move if you need to for your kids.

I think Wednesday will be off too.

Agreed. We are untouched and a pretty urban community. I’m sure those further out will take some time to dig out tomorrow and Wednesday. Def won’t be ready for kids/buses

Are you just pulling s h I t from your butt or do you have some link you’d like to quote? Are you one of those “It just feels like xyz is happening…?”

Here is Capital Weather Gang’s post from 6:30am

If you're just waking up, 3-6" of snow has already fallen across much of the DC area. We're well on our way to 6-12"

Some totals are shown here.

Follow our updates today at cwg.live

(Posted at 630a Monday)

Instant gratification has fried our brains. People see a forecast of 6-12 inches over a 24 hour period and think if they don’t see all 12+ when they wake up at 6 am then we didn’t get anything.

The original forecast had the biggest batch of snow coming overnight. The snow hole seemed to delay the start of the storm and then most of us woke up to no precipitation at all when the heaviest snow was supposed to fall before 10am. It's picked back up again but I would be surprised if we hit double digits unless the heavy snow window extends later than originally. We'll likely hit the 6 inch mark and be within our prohection but the storm also clearly went further south than originally projected based on snow totals in Stafford. It's disappointing when all the models showed the DMV getting the biggest accumulations.

All that said, this is the most snow my kids have ever seen in person so they're already up and out having a great time in what we do have.

Current forecast is for heavy snow to continue until noon, then let up, and then an additional heavy band in the evening giving an additional 1-2" of snow.

The snow storm isn't done yet.

No, but locally we are not getting more than another 2” or so than we have now. Meaning where I am we are looking at 7” max.

I have 8 on my back patio now. And all these side roads will be sheets of ice in the morning.

Sorry to all y’all who see school as childcare. Maybe you shouldn’t have had kids?

This is honestly such an obnoxious comment. Society is set up in the way that kids go to school during the day and parents work during the day. Many families need both parents to work. We do not see school as merely "childcare", but it's de facto where kids spend the majority of their day!

And snow days are a thing, have been a thing for decades, and having plans for that is part of parenting. Deal.

You're not wrong. But it's still a really obnoxious comment.

Guys,
just enjoy the snow week. My daughter is a junior before we know it she be off to college, and we are going to miss days like this. We are already missing the days she went out to play in the snow all day and had a snow ball fight. This time was like 20 minutes so limited. Enjoy the snow days, It goes by too fast..

WTF? No, school will be open on Wednesday. All the main roads are clear now, the neighborhood roads will be cleared tomorrow.

They were not. And custodians don’t plow parking lots anyway.

Custodians have been called in to report on Tuesday morning.

And yes, custodians do not plow parking lots. That’s contracted out.

Custodians do shovel walkways though, it's a hard job, feel free to go help them.

My money is on a two-hr delay for Wednesday.
