I guess he doesn’t think Lutheran and Catholic Churches are the “right” kind of Christianity.

This is absolutely the case. Tons of fundie missionaries like the Duggars in Latin America trying to “convert” Catholics.

Yeah they they are too cowardly to try an convert actual non Christians so they are just trying to convert christians who are the wrong flavor (according to them)

I always donate heavily to the Salvation Army as they have free long term (6 month) alcohol rehab programs.

This was the only rehab that ever worked for my brother.

The secular ones that cost money did not work.

Salvation army descrimnates against LGBTQ people. I refuse to give them any of my money

I’m an atheist but I don’t understand why you would favor banning speech.

Same here. I’m a Hindu, but technically an atheist. I observe the Christians doing a lot of good for the poor, sadly while extremist Hindus slaughter and discriminate against Muslims. It’s extremely dangerous cracking down on speech send what people believe.

The discussion is decoupling speech from aid for people in vulnerable situations. Basic ethics.

I just finished reading this very interesting book called the "the very worst missionary" which is a book about a missionary family in Costa Rica who become disillusioned with the work. One scene in the book were when these short term missionary groups would roll in and bring candy and toys to poor families and the parents would pull their kids from school every few weeks to get candy and swag.

Another was a sports team that got proselytized in exchange for much needed sports equipment so the team would decide which people who fake accept Jesus in exchange for the equipment.

It absolutely enrages me to see western Christians come to third-world countries to convert us, trying to destroy our local practices, languages because they think they know better than us. The absolute disdain they have towards us brown people is disgusting. I think they should just be banned by all governments. Want to do humanitarian work - enroll with non-religious AID organizations. Keep your bible and your prejudice to yourself.

I agree 100% OP. I was SO mad this week, my kid walked past a Christian church and someone gave her a COMIC talking about whether or not she was going to HELL. Talk about warping young minds! I could only imagine if another religion had done that to local kids, people would be up in arms.

I agree with you that it should not be allowed, anywhere, at all.
