As the Biden economy tanks look for may layoffs. Amazon, Walmart and others all took a hit in earnings. All the tech giants did too.

People are not spending money because they either don’t have it due to inflation or they’re not making making risky investments.

We’re in the verge of another recession if not depression

We were always on the verge of a recession.
Inflation should counter a depression.

I will now only vote blue because of this crazy Alito ruling on Roe v Wade.

My ability to fully enjoy and regulate my life is worth a million times more than this temporary inflation.

This a bunch of moms from my kids school who typically vote for public and due to small business and taxes are up in arms over this ruling. They're coming out and saying they will support Democratic candidates who will protect their rights and the rights of their daughters. I guess you don't want to to make the mommy crowd mad. Way to go! Republicans.

This. If you think inflation is scary, try an unwanted child. There is nothing scarier for a woman, from every standpoint you can imagine. In terms of personal finance, it's a bombshell even without inflation.

American public cares more about inflation that abortion.

Abortion doesn’t effect me. I can choose not to have a child by simply using birth control. Inflation is impossible to escape.

It does "affect" you. It will affect all of us, socially, economically, etc. Plus, it will be taking away basic rights from half of the population so...

All lies. No one is taking your right away. Just chill bro …

The markets are not the economy. We kept saying that through the sugar high juiced markets during the Trump administration.

Inflation is a result of re4bounding from the dumpster fire left by the Trump Administration.
Gas prices are the result of massive price gauging by the oil companies.
Russia does actually have an impact, as its unprovoked invasion of Ukraine means pressure on oil and food resources for most of the world.

We are all interconnected, like it or not. Decoupling from the world will make things even worse.

What is it he should be doing?

Telling Powell to take one for the team (i.e. his fellow Americans, not just the Administration)
and raise it to like, 15% to curb inflation
We gotta suffer now to avoid catastrophe

Stop making absurd spending proposals that will pump more money into the economy and drive inflation.

Stop dangling the idiotic promise of student loan forgiveness which again will pump money into the economy and is driving another generation of students to take out loans hoping they will be forgiven.

At this point he could reliably do the exact opposite of what his instincts tell him to do and we’d all be better off.

I don't think it's his instincts. It's his advisors.

Remember when Treasury Secretary Yellen said last year that she "don't forsee an inflation crisis" anytime soon?

WaPo editorial board slams Biden's 'magical thinking on inflation'

The Washington Post editorial board slammed President Biden's "magical thinking on inflation" on Wednesday, following the release of April's numbers.

Inflation came in at 8.3% in April, showing a slight decrease from March's record-high 8.5% year-over-year inflation. Prices remain high and the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was still higher than predicted.

The editorial board noted that inflation was "one of the biggest challenges" the president faces and that American consumers from both political parties were frustrated about it. The editors said that Biden should have told the American people that he was taking inflation "very seriously" several months ago.

"The White House has been suffering from magical thinking on inflation, and, sadly, that continues," the editorial board said, adding that in 2021, the Biden administration "wrongly" told people that the high prices wouldn't last.

When it was obvious inflation was not going to come down "on its own," the editorial board said, the Biden administration turned to "a blame game."

"One of its favorite talking points is to pin inflation on greedy corporations for hiking prices too much. That just doesn’t add up. Corporations did not become far more greedy in the past few months," the authors argued, adding that what is really going on is "basic economics."

The editorial board criticized Biden's hammering of the Republican Party, noting that it wasn't what Americans wanted to hear. The authors also said Sen. Rick Scott's, R-Fla., tax plan was "terrible."

It’s wishful thinking that inflation is going to come down much by Election Day. To show voters he is on top of the problem, Mr. Biden needs to do more than blame someone else for high prices," they concluded.
