Biden strikes out with King Manchin

Joe Manchin cares about one thing: Joe Manchin. It’s the reality of politics. He lays claim to being a Democrat in one of the reddist of states even though he’s more in the mold of an old school chamber of commerce Republican. He protects his donor base in the coal and energy sector regardless of the environmental snd health impacts. So holf off on the sainthood.

Dumb dumbs.

This has to go down as one of the biggest botched plays in politics. Dems could have gotten alot of their progressive policies passed if they weren't so do damn greedy with their non existent majorities. Im surprised there have no major repercussions for the people in charge (Klain, Schumer, et al)

Klain is supposedly leaving right around midterms. It would have been too on the nose to fire him in February 2022 apparently. But him, Jayapal and Brian Neese, or the 'Cabal of Social Welfare' as I call them, all need to be fired.

Hey dummy the energy sector employs his electorate so he does what he was elected to do which is steward their interests. Biden should kiss Manchin’s feet because he prevented our buffoon president from dramatically worsening our already shitty economy.

What is going on with him? He's acting very differently.

IMO this is what he wanted all along. It fits his sensibilities - a short low cost bill that targets taxes and increases healthcare access. The climate thing was a concession I admit but everything else? He got rid of 90% of the BS by standing firm for a year.

King Manchin.

Could’ve saved a ton of headache just if Schumer and Klain believed him instead of thinking he was a low iq goy that could be rolled over by high iq.

He's not going to do that.

A) Their Black Lung rider is an easier add-on to any bipartisan legislation that passes in 2022. Will get both Dem and GOP support no questions asked.

B) The Black Lungs Benefits Trust only costs $2 million a year to administer, $20 million total for a 10-year extension. Otherwise everything is funded by an excise tax on corporation profits in the areas affected by black lung. Unlike the Squad he's not an idiot. Trading $20 million for $1.75 Trillion is a fool's proposition.

Manchin saw the writing on the wall: Dems are poised to pick up seats in the Senate, making him irrelevant. He’s taking his wins now.

The coal industry employs a lot of his electorate because we are still subsidizing the fossil fuel industry. That’s a choice, not the free market. Put those same subsidies towards wind and solar and those same constituents would have good modern clean energy jobs instead. Nobody wants the whole energy sector to die.

As for the “shitty economy”…. furl prices are dropping and more jobs were added than expected baed on the latest data. There is no recession even though the entire Republican party has been trying their best to will one into existence just to hurt Biden. Wait, wouldn’t that also hurt all of those coal miners that you use for your fake outrage?

This.
If the Dems end up with one or two more seats then Manchin and Sinema can go kick rocks.

LOL you all are misreading this again - just like you thought Manchin would crack on that stupid trillion-dollar proposal.

He’s throwing desperate Dems in midterms a lifeline to run on while passing a bill HE co-authored, named and stuck in not only pipeline legislation for but also a Coal Miners pension provision that benefits only his state.

Manchin not only got his pork, he ate it too.

I’m all for Manchin’s pork if it gets us Climate legislation and lower drug cost. But you can’t tell me this win will make him irrelevant because Dems will not only now hold the Senate, we’ll pick up a seat or two.

Next year we’ll close the carried interest loophole since even 1 pickup makes Sinema irrelevant too.

I’m telling you exactly that. Say the Dems hold the Senate +1-2 (and that’s far from certain with Kelly on shaky grounds and your hope being Rubio or Rand Paul loses lol), the House is guaranteed to be in Republican hands. What exactly do you hope to pass with one chamber against the other?

It’s not Sinema and Manchin being irrelevant you should worry about, it’s the entire Senate.

Of course in blue hands we’ll still get our judicial nominees through so small blessings.
