Athleta girl sizing... as an adult?

Anonymous
I'm eyeing a couple of pieces at 'Athleta girl' but for myself. I'm 5'3', 130lbs, size 4-6. Any recommendations for how to size pieces as an adult?

I’m 5’3 110 and only the largest in store styles me. It’s not a great deal though- they’re not as well made if you’re looking for actual performance wear- I’d just buy women’s xxs

Is the quality really that different? I'm typically an XS-S in regular women's (more bottom heavy). But there are a couple of cuter items (tops) in the girl's section that I'm eyeing...

I wouldn’t file cute tops under performance wear.

Thank you for your incredibly helpful response!! I guess I'll just throw away my gift card since there's no point using it to look for pieces I like or find attractive.

FWIW, I'm 5'3", 110 lbs., no chest to speak of. Recently tried an Athleta girls' hoodie thing in the biggest size, but it was too small (short and tight).

My daughter is 5'3", 110 and she outgrew XL girls a couple of years ago. If you're a size 0-2 it might still work.

You can use your gift card to buy women’s clothes. I was trying to be polite in saying you’re way too big.

I don’t think a size 4-6 woman can really wear children’s clothing. Odd.

Not OP, but I'm a size 4-6 and I've bought some girls' XL stuff when I saw something that was cute. A couple of T-shirts, and one cropped jacket. But it really depends on the cut and the brand. From PPs, sounds like Athleta runs small so it wouldn't work. For what it's worth, I clicked on this thread to see if I could get Athleta's larger sizes for my tween girl, who is basically a women's size 2, but it sounds like they don't run big enough.

Op here, and I can very easily fit into girls clothing at gap, target, etc. kids sizes are also “vanity” for a growing population.

Um, you can’t wear children’s clothes at your size.

It really depends OP.

Some girls's sized shirts are too tight in the rib cage, for example, or don't cover up the torso/hip area in a flattering enough way and then it just looks really dumb.

I wear a size S (2-4) in most Athleta items. My younger DD wears an XL (14) in Athleta Girl. There's absolutely no way we can wear each other's clothes...the cut is just way too different.

You're too big for Athleta girls OP.
My daughter wears their size XL but is a zero in women's clothing.
