Expensive wine is gross and overrated

We opened our "expensive" bottle of wine and it just isn't any good. This is pretty much always the case every time I drink some very special or expensive old red wine.

When you people obsess over fancy wines and pretend they are so good, who are you trying to impress? Are you worried the upper class police are going to ask to see your papers, out you as a fraud, and banish you to a trailer park?

There is literally no reason to pay more than $10 for a bottle of wine

Wine needs to be kept under the right conditions or it will go bad. That’s probably what happened with your old wine.

I’m sorry you’ve never had good wine before.

There’s a huge difference. I agree you don’t have to spend a fortune, but a $10 bottle of wine is going to pretty much suck. And you’ll pay about $40 for that same bottle in a restaurant btw. If you move up to $20-$30 you’ll fare a lot better.

S/he wouldn’t know the difference.

I once had dinner with a person who collected wine. He brought a bottle to the restaurant. The sommelier opened it and he shared a glass with him. It was easily the most delicious wine I ever had. Sublime is the word that comes to mind. I’m normally a $10 bottle drinker, but this was another level of drink altogether. It was probably nearly 20 years ago, and I still remember how amazing it was.

Some wines may not be worth their price tag, but there are some out there that’s are!

Different people like different things. Some people think filet mignon is gross and hits dogs rock, others prefer the filet. Some like lobster, others prefer Snickers and Diet Coke. That’s ok.

Objectively, there is a difference in taste between a $10 grocery store bottle and a well-aged Bordeaux. OP even acknowledges that there is a difference. Not everyone will like the Bordeaux, but if you do it’s worth the price.

Me? I can definitely appreciate the Bordeaux, but will also happily stock my cabinet with $10-20 bottles for everyday drinking. And while I’m not a huge fan of Diet Coke, I’ll eat either hot dogs or filet mignon with my wine.

My favorite is Apothic red, $7.99. I also like Butter which is about $15

Nah, maybe it needed to breathe. Or you didn’t pair it right.

I am sorry that you have not experienced truly incredible wine.

I don't even like wine! But certain wines are exceptional. They are also extremely expensive, and need to be kept in the right conditions. Some of them don't travel well, either. One branch of my family owns a vineyard in France. You won't find those in stores here. They have tastings and auctions over there.

You could be the sweetest, juiciest peach in the world...but out there is someone that doesn’t like peaches.

I feel the same way about goat cheese, OP. I don’t care how fancy the dish is, it’s disgusting each and every time. Barf.

OP, you have an unsophisticated palate. Keep trying or give up. It's up to you.
