How many pairs of shoes does your toddler have?

Anonymous
Our 2 year old has two pairs of shoes at any given time: a pair of sneakers for daycare and, because it’s winter, a pair of snow/rain boots.

We never thought it was necessary to have more than that. Is this typical?

Same for our 4 yo. He has everyday sneakers and snow/rain boots. I think we have some backup sneakers in the closet as well. In the summer we have crocs and sneakers.

2 year old has rain boots, water shoes, sandals, athletic sneakers, slip on sneakers, patent mary janes for fancier events, shearling slippers

Same. Tennis shoes and boots. Pair of each

Same for both of my boys (3.5/1.5). My observation is that girls tend to have more shoes, even at this young age. We did have two pairs during potty training just in case a pair got peed on.

That's more pairs of shoes than I have...

My 4 year old and 2 year old kids typically have 2 pairs per season-1 of the pairs is always sneakers and the other varies by season. right now it's snow/winter boots, in spring it'll be rain boots, in the summer sandals, in the fall probably back to rain boots. I used to buy cute, dressier shoes on occasion and then realized they never wore them and it was a waste. They outgrow/wear out their sneakers every couple months so basically we're buying 2 new pairs of shoes each season it seems=16 new pairs of shoes each year between the 2 kids. I can't imagine buying more.

OP here. My kid is a girl. I guess I’m unusual in that I don’t buy her a lot of shoes?

My 18 month old twins each have a pair of sneakers, a pair of snow boots, and a pair of dressy shoes for church/holidays. Older kid has the same.

My 2 and 4yr old boys each have 3 pairs - 1 pair sneakers, 1 pair brown leather shoes for nicer events, 1 pair rain boots left at preschool.

A lot - maybe 8-10 pair that fit at any given moment plus some in bigger sizes. It’s excessive but oh well, it’s more fun to shop for her than me most of the time.

You seriously don't have more than 6 pairs of shoes?

1 pair of sneakers, 1 pair of ankle boots (in the summer, Natives), 1 pair rain boots, 1 pair snow boots.

I buy both the rain boots and snow boots a couple of sizes big so they last a while. They also get handed down from big sister to little sister.

+1

Her feet grow really slowly, so some shoes even wear out.

Based on the parents who start posts on DCUM, having only 2 pairs of shoes is typical.

We don’t really dress her up for anything. With standard cotton dresses she wears her sneakers. I mostly want her to be comfortable, so I don’t have her wear special shoes with dresses.
