| What's with the new fence? |
|
It's Mrs. Heckert's solution for "pedestrian safety"'.
I personally think it's a bs solution for traffic problems that Mrs. Heckert continues to neglect getting community input. |
|
The students driving the wrong way to exit the student parking lot is more hazardous than students walking home.
It would have been nice if Mrs. Heckert could have provided a map a nd better notification of the change prior to students arriving to school this morning. |
| Where is the fence, what is it supposed to do, and what does it actually do? |
| How much did it cost? WTH? |
Fence outrage. This is new. |
| We have a new fence, and Wootton is going to pay for it! |
| Churchill people are funny ?. |

| There was information in the Winston Weekly (weekly newsletter from the school) and from the PTA President in the Blips (weekly newsletter from the PTA), that says they have been working with WCHS since January of 2018 on this so talk to the PTA if you are unhappy. Or just keep complaining about everything this new Principal does - it's so entertaining! |
I have talked with the PTA executive board. Frankly, I have been displeased with their leadership and lack of transparency with their membership. The board only speak for their individual self interest, not for the interest of the membership. |
Figured it was something like this. |
An earlier thread said that only 20-some people showed up for the first general membership meeting. If the general membership wanted a voice in things, I'd think they would show up for the first meeting of the year, and with the new principal. |
Or membership will vote with their wallets and stop contributing to the PTA. With only one membership meeting since September 1st, that speaks volumes as to how a select few have consolidated their power and have limited input from membership. Parents who want to vote with the power of money can divert grocery store school accounts now to other schools. Next year, vote by not renewing PTA membership. At some point, when the executive board no longer has the funding that they have now, perhaps they will realize listening to the membership is important. |
If they have been working on it for a year, why didn't Mrs. Heckert mention the fence plan at the one and only PTA meeting? She was the guest speaker after all. A short blurb in one issue of the stupid Winston Weekly that readers have to click on the pdf link to a page littered with nonsense was well designed to cover up the project. As far as the PTA message, it came out on a Sunday night, supposedly AFTER the fence was erected. I would give Mrs. Heckert and the PTA executive board an F for their poor communication skills. |
