Election Day!

Can't wait to see what happens in the gubernatorial races in Virginia and New Jersey!

We can all celebrate no matter what the outcome because it means that the VA governor ads on TV have come to an end.

And the end of wall to wall phone calls betwen 6 pm and 8 pm!

Interesting commentary about the vocabulary of the election coverage:

http://www.commentarymagazine.com/blogs/index.php/wehner/151172

"When Democrats and liberals making sweeping electoral gains, it’s based on “hope” and “change,” on “civic engagement” and reversing a “culture of corruption.”It’s all very positive, upbeat, and high-minded. "

"Conservative ascendancy is rooted in things like “rage” and “anger” and is driven by “angry white men,” as if the elections are the outworking of some kind of troubling psychological condition."

Perhaps Wehner is too young to recall the rhetoric of the Reagan revolution. There was a time when the right was intent on something other than ensuring the failure of the present president.

Right on!
Anonymous
From the AP:" In Associated Press surveys at polling places statewide, about eight in 10 voters said they were worried about the direction of the nation's economy, and the majority of those favored McDonnell."

"Exit polls showed nearly a third of voters in Virginia during the day described themselves as independents and they preferred McDonnell to Deeds by almost a 2-1 margin.

It was a reversal of a year ago when independents in the pivotal swing state and across the country tilted heavily toward the Democrats, fueling Obama's White House victory."

According to Chuck Todd:

"Virginia is America's perfect swing state still. The president's job rating in VA is identical the most recent NBC-WSJ data: 51%."

A year ago, Obama won Virginia with 52%. So, Obama's support is basically the same.

The VA race has nothing to do with Obama. It has to do with a crappy Democratic candidate who tried to run as a luke warm Republican. As Democrats should have learned by now, when given the choice of a luke warm Republican and a real Republican, voters choose the real deal. A true Democrat would have followed Obama's lead and expanded the electorate rather than battling for the same voters as the Republican candidate.

Do I have to move from Vienna now? What ever happened to keeping VA blue?

Ha! Looks like Alexandria or Arlington's your best bet, if you need to be among "friends".

wrong. election polling shows Obama approval #s under 50% in Virginia. and in a 50/50 state (essentially), that is huge. BIG dropoff from the 2008 election.

I think I'll go with my sourced numbers rather than your pulled from your ass assertion. But, thanks for playing.
