Painkillers for 14 year old

Anonymous
DD is 14 and has had her period for 3 years now. Every time she has her period she always complains about terrible back pain. When she was in the 8th grade she even tried to use it as an excuse to cut school(I sent her anyway). Now she's asking me to buy her painkillers. As you can understand there is no way I am going to let her take painkillers. When I was her age my parents would never let me go near painkillers and I didn't argue with them. It's not even that bad, why would anyone need to take painkillers because of cramps?
My friends have been telling me that I should let her take painkillers and I'm sorry but I'm not going to let them poison my child. Any alternatives? She's tried warm compresses and raspberry tea and all but they don't seem to be helping. Do you think I'm being unreasonable?

Sometimes posts on here make me feel better about my own shi**y relationship with my mom. This is one of them. At least she bought me Advil and didn’t make me suffer.

Just wondering, go you let "them" vaccinate your DD? Or is that also poisoning?

Maybe you were born lucky enough not to have to deal with menstrual cramps, but just so you know, they're pretty BAD for a lot of people. You shouldn't compare your experience with your daughter's nor should you restrict her from doing things that might help her cope with the pain. I understand that sometimes it can be difficult and that you might just want her to 'man up' but try and put yourself in your daughter's shoes and see how you would feel if you were in constant excruciating pain and your mother was denying your right to the only thing that might make it go away.
I say, let her take the painkillers. They're not gonna 'poison' your precious snowflake.
Also, if she really does have bad cramps then it's reasonable for her to miss a day because of them. I have and I know many people who have. She's not 'cutting class', for god's sake woman, loosen up.

She is in pain. Advil, water bottle and a little wine always helped me. As per my grandma.

When you say painkillers, do you mean she's asking for opioids? If so, that's concerning. But if she just wants advil, of course you get that for her!

As much as I hope they are I highly doubt that this person is a troll. I have some experience with these kinds of people in real life and they're just as aloof and ignorant as they seem to be online.

OP here. She hasn't specified. She just gets mad and yells at me that 'all her friends take painkillers' so idk if it's some drug thing going on at school.

3 ibuprofen and a heating pad. If it is that bad, let her stay home. My parents let me stay home.

You are being unreasonable.

It's not "some drug thing going on at school" and yes, I'm sure all her friends who need them are taking painkillers.

Are you already giving her Advil or Tylenol when she complains of pain?
