Painkillers for 14 year old

Anonymous
Someone posted not too long ago that everyone in her home is so healthy, they don't even keep Tylenol in the house.

Good thing suffering is natural.

You could always put her on birth control - that might help with cramps though I doubt they will be less scary than "painkillers" for you.

I think this must be a dad.

I mean, it has to be.

No woman who has ever experienced period cramps would begrudge her daughter some tylenol or midol.

Geez louis OP. Get this poor girl some OTC painkillers.

No way. My mom was just like this; She didn't "believe" in modern medicine. my periods sucked. And she blamed me for getting bad grades when the pain was so terrible that I couldn't concentrate on schoolwork.

How do you know? Do you not have a concept of the term "anti-vaxx"?

OP, you should NEVER let your daughter be tainted by such horrible poisonous substances. If she's looking for some pain relief, here's what you have to do:

At midnight on a full moon, go out and look for chunks of quartz crystals.Take the first one to glint the moonlight off of it and use it to slice 10 sprigs of dandelion(and some hemlock for
good measure).

Once you return, leave these plants on the windowsill overnight. pour yourself a bowl of only the finest crystal clear water from the very top of mount Everest and allow the quartz to sit in it until exactly 12:34 PM and 56 seconds.

At 4:44 PM the next day, perform a ritual sacrifice of your dearest pet. If you do not have a pet, use your youngest child. take three drops of blood straight from their aorta and swirl it into the bowl of only the finest crystal clear water from the very top of mount Everest.

Chop the herbs up until they are in 1*1 cm sized pieces. Boil the bowl of only the finest crystal clear water from the very top of mount Everest until it reaches exactly 394.261 Kelvin. Then add the herbs and mix well. in 10 minutes, take only the finest crystal clear water from the very top of mount Everest off the heat and pour approximately 19.6 mm into a small cup.

Leave this cup in the freezer until it's at the point of nearly freezing but not quite yet frozen. drive out into the country and look for the first albino cow you can find. Force the liquid into its mouth. Wait until the cow has managed to absorb the magical liquid into its bloodstream, then slice its head open with a machete.

Extract the brain and fry it until it is thoroughly cooked. Take it off and serve with a smattering of breadcrumbs and a honey mustard schmear.

There is no way this is real. No human being is this stupid. I refuse to believe there are people who won't give kids Tylenol or Motrin for pain. That's flat out child abuse.

OP here. She hasn't specified. She just gets mad and yells at me that 'all her friends take painkillers' so idk if it's some drug thing going on at school.

When people were jumping on you about not giving her painkillers I just assumed they were the usual run of the mill DCUM dumpster pile of trash posters. However with this idiotic follow on, I've also come to the conclusion your are about as intelligent as a plastic 5 gallon bucket.

Obviously nobody should allow anyone they love to take opioids, but for god's sake, give the girl some excedrin. You suck.

Ibuprofen. As pediatrician how much she can take. I had bad menstrual cramps as a teen, and my dr said I could take up to 6 pills. (that was the 80s, things may have changed). Anyway, get your kid some effective OTC meds.

Part of learning how to be an adult is learning how to take care of oneself during the multitude of ways that our bodies occasionally make it difficult for us to go about our days. This includes everything from headaches, colds, cramps, muscle strains. Of course talk to her about proper hydration and stretching and hot water bottles, and whatever other coping mechanisms, but for everyones benefit please let her try some ibuprofen or other over the counter med.

Your poor child. I hope she calls her doctor herself. Cramps can be devastatingly painful and a parent is supposed to care for her child.

Um, can't your daughter just go to CVS and buy some ibuprofen? This is OTC and not age-restricted. Why hasn't your DD figured this out yet?

But some women don’t experience period cramps.

I have a friend who doesn’t get cramps & just didn’t understand why some women complained so much about their periods until she got old enough (& empathetic enough) to realize not everyone was as lucky as she is in that regard.

My friend was in her late teens when she stopped accusing other females who actually got bad cramps of just being dramatic but it seems like — make or female— OP hasn’t reached that level of maturity yet.

She probably fear — probably correctly if these threads are anything to go by— that OP would freak out & try to check her into rehab if she found the “forbidden” meds.
