Anyone watching?

so odd that two people left before the season was over. And I can't believe how nice the captain was when he fired the bosen. And let him tell everyone that it was his decision to leave.

I really did think whats-her-name (the chief stew) was a huge bully to the 3rd stew. It was a bit much.

Below Deck is a guilty pleasure. Was eagerly awaiting last night's episode although the firing of Chandler was a bit anti-climactic.

A few thoughts: 1) Rylee mouthing off to Ross his first day as Bosun does make you think Chandler might have been right about her. She has a lousy attitude. 2) The chef is awfully whiny for someone supposedly so Zen. 3) Kate was a bit mean but she seemed totally over Caroline and Caroline was trying to milk whatever she could get out of it.

Curious to see what happens next week with the "man overboard".

I cannot believe that they haven't heaved Rylee overboard. The scene where she was yelling at Chandler, whether I agree with her or not, was totally unacceptable when guests could hear her. Chandler should told Captain Lee and canned her then and there. Caroline is just off. While she wasn't a good fit with the rest of the crew, she also seemed like she had some serious mental health issues. I think she made a very good choice when she pulled herself from the boat. I hope she gets some help. I don't know what to make of Adrian. He tries to make himself all Zen but he is pretty rigid. And it certainly was his mistake about the gas cannister being left on the boat but he let Ross take the heat for it. I like Ross so I hope he does okay. I didn't like that we were treated to a window view of whats-his-name banging some girl in the van. I thought it was in poor taste.

Yeah, I was on Rylee's side for a long time (chandler was a joke) but the way she talked back to Ross was awful. Either she has some residual hold-over anger that she's misdirecting at Ross or she really is a bitch that can't handle not being the boss.
Caroline was a bit dramatic, but Kate banging on her door and putting that music right outside the door was just awful and unprofessional.

Oh - did they even show that family leaving the boat? Did I miss the tip? I was curious about that and just realized I don't remember seeing anything about that. If they cut that part out - it must have been awful.

yeah, the extra porn noises they overlayed onto the scene was a bit much.

My friend owns a smaller yacht (crew of 3) so I find the whole crew and work stuff fascinating. ALso a guilty pleasure.

Caroline: Head case. High maintenance.
Kate: mean girl after she pulled that stuff with Caroline to evict her
Rhylee: Insubordinate
Chandler: Bad manager
Adrian: Low drama

Wow, I totally missed the music scene. I don't usually get to watch a whole segment all the way through. I see bits and pieces. I'll look for it the next time that episode is on!

The funny part about the family is that they left a $20k tip, which was astoundingly high if the trip was as bad as it looked. But Captain Lee said he thought the crew left about $5k on the table because of the poor job they had all done.

+1 Like we were supposed to be impressed or we needed the noise to understand what we were seeing. Yikes.

Does anyone know if they're really deck crew/stews or if they're sort of crew but more wanna-be actors? I've heard both. I've heard that you audition to be on the show (actor) and that if they accept you, you have to take a course about doing the job/yachting before going (actor - and how ben and that stew met before the show actually aired). but then I heard that some of these folks have been crew/stews for years and years. Some of it just doesn't seem right. Like - the crazy nut-jobs. Without the cameras going, how did they even get their jobs done.

Kate is a really terrible manager but this crossed the line to abusive and I thought the Caroline bullying rose to the level that the Captain fell short by not noticing/dealing with it. At a minimum, he should be instituting new routines with Kate's reports including the new stew to make sure nothing like that is going on. It doesn't matter if she was a basket case or whatever. Kate was her boss. Boss first. And she sucked at it - utterly unprofessional.

If Caroline gave notice and then refused to do the work, isn't she at that point just some kind of stow-away or trespasser? She's no longer welcome aand needs to leave. What did she think was going to happen? At some point should Caroline take responsibility for her actions. Her "script" seemed to leave out her role in the events as they occurred. Will be interesting to see how this gets addressed at the reunion but I'm guessing Caroline won't be there. Maybe we will get Captains take on the situation now that he has seen what happened.

I think some of them, especially the more senior deck hands and stewards, are definitely for real. They are taking on real guests and you can't have it run by a bunch of amateurs.

However, there are some other crew on the boat who don't show up on camera. There's a deputy captain and/or some kind of senior deckand. They showed him very briefly 2 episodes ago when the jacuzzi overflowed or it started raining, and the 3 deck crew were all off the boat on the tender.

So, I'll admit it. I love this show. Absolutely love it.

Rhylee - She's horrible. Her behavior, her attitude, everything about her. Her treatment of Ross sent me over the edge. I just think she's a b***. And, her treatment of Adrian. Really? He just wanted to get out of the van.

Caroline - Serious mental health issues. She's had them all season long. Unfortunately, I agree with Kate. When you are on a small team and one person is out all the time, it's really hard on the rest of the team. Seriously, 10 minutes for drinks for guests? The broken glass? Come on.

Ashton - He's hot and really fun to watch. I do think Rhylee was pissed that he was hooking up with some chick.

Kate - I do like her. I think she can be mean, but generally it's when people are incompetent or are holding her back. I get it. I would agree with the manager stuff other people have posted about, but she works well with Josiah. So, I think it is more about who's a good worker for her.

Chandler - I can't believe the madness that was happening for far too long. He really needed to go.

Kate was On watch what Happens live after the show. Regarding Rhylee, Kate said that Ryhlee was used to being the most popular girl in Alaska, and that’s not true outside of Alaska. I found that comment interesting. The ratio of men to women in Alaska is extremely high-I think Rhylee is used to being the center of male attention.

Darn, I missed that show. I saw it come on but I couldn't watch. What you say about Alaska is true - the man-woman ratio is way off so I can see how Rhylee would be used to the male attention. She was totally ticked off when Ashton went off with that girl, and I think that's what we saw when she slammed the seat into Adrian's face. I'm really surprised she is making it through the season. TBH I would have kicked her off the boat after the first charter.
