DH and I have binged on the various British shows over the last couple of months - starting to go through withdrawal already because we're on the final episode of Last Tango in Halifax...AND WE DON'T WANT IT TO END
Would like recommendations on what to watch next. Should also add that we're not really into period pieces, so Downton Abbey doesn't really do it for us. this is what we've watched so far - each one, fantastic! - Broadchurch - The Bodyguard - The Fall - Happy Valley - Doctor Foster - Last Tango in Halifax |
| Australian rather than British but we love The Heart Guy |
| Sherlock |
|
Unforgotten
Black Mirror Fleabag The Missing Catastrophe |
|
Luther
If you like really goofy comedies - The IT Crowd |
|
+1 for the Missing. Season 1 was good but Season 2 is as good a season as any show I've watched.
I also enjoyed the Fortitude, which is on Prime. |

Scott & Bailey on Prime. It’s modern day, two female police officers. It’s really good!
The Unforgotten (Orime or Netflix, I forget which). Endeavour, on Prime Morse Inspector Lewis Midsomer Murders (there are about 800,000 episodes) on Netflix |
| Do you like science fiction at all? Doctor Who! |
| The Great British Baking Show has it all -- a compelling narrative, insights into the mosaic of contemporary Britain, and, of course, food porn. |
|
I’ve loved all those you’ve already watched, OP.
I highly recommend Grantchester. |
I've heard from so many people that this is a must watch - but never gave it much thought because it's a "baking show". I guess it's much more than that, after all! Thanks! |

Night Manager is really good.
What about The Crown? |
PP, again. Next on my own list to watch— National Treasure:Kiri, which stars Sarah Lancashire, who was brilliant in Happy Valley and Last Tango. I also just added River to my watchlist, which was recommended to me. National Treasure is on Hulu. |
Thank you! It's on my watch list now
