I've heard from so many people that this is a must watch - but never gave it much thought because it's a "baking show". I guess it's much more than that, after all!

Thanks!

OMG, it is awesome! Think of it more as a reality show where you get to see baking. And I am in love with Mary Berry, one of the judges. She is 80+ and just a cutie!

I hate to break this to you, but Mary didn't move with the show when it left BBC. The new co-host is Pru Lake, who's absolutely delightful, and a great match with Paul -- he of the spray tan and piercing blue eyes.

Oh, rats. I actually thought that Paul was intimidated a lot of times by Mary. She is such an icon! Well I will look forward to seeing Pru Lake, then!

Do share spreadsheet - thank you!

Here's as extensive a list of British crime shows as I've seen. It was posted here a couple years ago: http://timbarron.net/entertainment/british-tv-crime-mysteries/

This is pure gold! thank you! Brings back Broadchurch memories

Great, thank you!

I still love lots of American shows - The Americans, Breaking Bad, the West Wing, Friday Night Lights, Homeland before it went crazy, House of Cards before it went bad, etc. I think the acting in most of those is excellent.

Watch the British House of Cards. It is brilliant.

Wondering if someone can come up with the name of a UK show I saw once while traveling.

It was a half hour comedy of the lives of two women who life in different towns and write letters to each other about the very mundane happenings in their lives. In between we see what actually happened. What made it stand out was the use of language--very Anglo Saxon and very funny as the reporting on what happened was quite different from the reality.

I can't help you, PP, but while we are on the subject of British comedies, I will put in a plug for my long-time favorite, "As Time Goes By". Stars Judi Dench. About an older couple that reunites after not seeing each other for 30 years or so. Great dialogue and humor.
