Hi again. You’ve posted similar posts before- we see your faux anger. Shame on you for pretending that this is your first time posting about the group.

Nope, sorry, this is my first time posting about them. I see their name here over and over again and I literally have never heard of them before this thread and certainly never been contacted by them. How can they claim to represent families when they don't do any outreach? Who are these people?

Add to that the fact that they couldn't resist buying the KAA in the middle of the review, and as yet appear to have no clue as to how many FCPS students could attend that school or what the implications could be for school boundaries.

This is a joke, right? They know a lot more than they are telling anyone. You very clearly have never worked in an environment that deals with the public a lot because you'd know better than the nonsense you've been posting here.

So your sophisticated response is to claim they have it all figured out but just aren't telling anyone yet? Your comfort level with the near-total lack of transparency exceeds mine.

No of course they don't have it figured out, but they know a lot more than you do.

NP. You probably didn't hear about them because they formed after the boundary review was launched and in response to it. I think some of the leaders were part of other FCPS-related groups but we're in a different part of the county and I'm not involved with them, other than I follow them on Facebook. I think they've been really helpful in publicizing what's going on and highlighting the gross stuff the adminsitration has tried, like cherry-picking people for the BRAC and rejecting people they didn't like. Seems like a lot of the group's leaders are in the Langley/McLean area. When the maps came out and those areas were untouched, that group seemed to go a bit quiet. But I've appreciated their work on this issue.

You really don't know?

It started out as a group of Langley parents concerned about potential redistricting and broadened into a wider group of parents and community members from all across the county. They have a Facebook page with over 2000 members.

The group pointed out irregularities in the process for selecting BRAC members and pushed for disclosure of their names. As a result of their advocacy, FCPS agreed to disclose the names of BRAC members (the appointees who didn't want their names disclosed resigned from the BRAC and were replaced), agreed to make the materials shared with BRAC members available to the public within a day or so of the BRAC meetings, and agreed that FairFACTS Matters could have two representatives on the BRAC. One is from the Langley area and the other from the other end of the county. They often share information on their FB page after the BRAC meetings and let others repost those summaries without restriction on other sites like this one.

But for their advocacy and transparency, we'd probably know even less about the boundary review than we currently do, and we might not know the frustrations that the BRAC members themselves have repeatedly expressed about FCPS staff and Thru Consulting asking BRAC members to provide feedback on quick notice while failing to provide them with background data that has been repeatedly requested.

It's more like a lot of the group's leaders are in the Langley/Great Falls area. The McLean HS boundaries are anything but "untouched" in the draft maps.

They've also filed a number of FOIA requests and shared the results. I'm in a different part of the county, but I also appreciate the work they have done in pushing for transparency.

And, just to add to this, even though the Thru maps didn't propose to move anyone out of Langley HS, the FairFACTS Matters reps on the BRAC continued to make themselves available to collect feedback from ANYONE in the county who had questions or concerns and share those concerns with FCPS staff and Thru Consulting.

You must have it wrong, because all we hear from frequent posters on DCUM is how evil great falls is.

+1 I’m not anywhere near Langley/McLean, but I really appreciate the group. If it wasn’t for their efforts, this whole thing would be shrouded in secrecy. Remember they wanted the BRAC members under an NDA originally. They weren’t going to share the names of the BRAC members - not just the pyramid representatives, but the FCPS staff AND the “interest group” members. They also were not going to post meeting materials.

We would have had the public comment meetings where our feedback would have been politely thrown in the trash, a few months later received a set of draft maps, another ineffective comment period, and then they would have forged ahead however they wanted. FairFacts was the only group to effectively shine a light on everything that was going on.

I’m the PP, sorry, my bad. I really never go up there and don’t know the area that well. We’re down in Springfield.

It is not literally 3 seats.

But heck, one of the high schools recrived 3 seats. 2 parents and one person who is a person politically connected to the school board.

Fairfacts has members from all over FCPS, with BRAC representatives from many parts of the county as members of FairFacts.

They are a resource for all of Fairfax County. They have been very helpful, from the beginning/last summer, for our community group on the complete opposite side of the county.

Those people on here who are trying to portray Fairfacts as just some Langley group are flat out lying.

You should join their facebook group.

They are really helpful to all parents, not just Langley, and are a wealth of information for anyone trying to learn more about the rezoning history and process.

Ignore those posters. They clearly have some weird ax to grind.

The FairFacts people have been so helpful to our community group.

They even offered to do an informational meeting with our group from the other side of the county to catch us up on the rezoning.
