On thinking about this, I am wondering if the Board of Supervisors is putting pressure on them. My neighborhood which has had some interesting developments in BRAC (that are not popular) usually has houses go very fast. I do realize that DOGE could also be having an effect, but, until Options 2 and 3 came out, they were still moving within a day or two. Not now.
Our neighborhood is considered desireable school wise=---though no where near Langley desireable. Just nice middle level.

I live in CT (just moved here from the DMV) and things in the last few weeks have slowed way down here too. I think it is more than DOGE. The whole war thing is having a bigger impact.

The school board and its defenders will now trip over themselves to berate you for even bringing up real estate and indirectly property values.

Fwiw, our area is in a similar position. Inventory is starting to pile up in our neck of the woods. Who could have ever guessed that people want stability in their school pyramid? If only they’d listen.

We were in Loudoun recently and man, those smaller school sizes are really enticing. We know several families who moved there or are actively considering moving.

I don't think it is the property value as much as stability. The option for my neighborhood offers a "more prestigious" school--but it requires a very long commute. All options for my neighborhood offer good schools--but not stability.

If that person is from the neighborhood that it sounds like, then she is correct that the FCPS rezoning is affecting home sals, not the stuff the CT poster mentioned.

The other half of the neighborhood that is not marked for rezoning is still selling in days with double digit offers over asking price.

One thing DCUM has done is to make me realize that this is going on all over FCPS. I'm thinking BOS has told Reid to fix it.

What was the point of suggesting people all over the county input their suggestions on the boundary tool if it's going to be some random BRAC members "redrawing the maps."

I guess it was just to waste people's time and/or make them feel like they could provide input that will then be ignored.

My pyramid reps are either not representative of the pyramid or totally AWOL so we are basically screwed by FCPS yet again.

Same here. Unless you personally know them, it's even difficult to know which neighborhoods they are from. If they don't yet have kids in high school, it makes it very difficult to figure it out.
How are we supposed to contact them directly? Is there an fcps email for them?

I'm on the BRAC. We asked to have emails specifically for our role and we were told to create a gmail account. Most pyramids have at least one member who has created an account and you can access them here.

Thank you. I think a lot of people here pretend to be BRAC members and are lying, so appreciate the transparency. It's hard to know what's real on this forum. Lots and lots of people just making things up.

Add to that the fact that they couldn't resist buying the KAA in the middle of the review, and as yet appear to have no clue as to how many FCPS students could attend that school or what the implications could be for school boundaries.

This is a joke, right? They know a lot more than they are telling anyone. You very clearly have never worked in an environment that deals with the public a lot because you'd know better than the nonsense you've been posting here.

Interesting. Maybe they are going to make decisions first on KAA and then start adjusting. But, they need to fix first things first, and that is Coates and Parklawn?

I wonder if this process may end up getting pushed out another year, with fall 2027 being the effective date of any changes?

Or, it could be:

1. they realize this is a mess
2. this is deflection

And if they do, that's great. Honestly, I'd rather they realize this is a mess and hold off on making massive changes than just do what THRU is telling them to do. This is a good thing, people!!

Yes- which is why it can seem like each little pocket is shouting into a void. There are so many small areas that are upset about proposed changes that don’t make sense.

So your sophisticated response is to claim they have it all figured out but just aren't telling anyone yet? Your comfort level with the near-total lack of transparency exceeds mine.

Can someone please explain why this FairFACTS matters group has THREE seats on the BRAC when I had never heard of them before this thread popped up? Who are these people and if they are so influential then why does the general public not know anything about them???

They don't have three seats. They have two seats and an alternate.

Funny that you're grousing about a local parents' group having representation on the BRAC but not raising any question about the hand-picked reps from other groups like the Neurodivergent Liberation Coalition and FCPS Pride.

Hi again. You’ve posted similar posts before- we see your faux anger. Shame on you for pretending that this is your first time posting about the group.
