Statistics don't agree with this statement that it is devastating to most people..... "Amid concerns over the coronavirus pandemic, it’s important to remember the vast majority of those infected experience mild symptoms and recover from the illness." https://thehill.com/changing-america/well-being/prevention-cures/488997-more-than-100000-people-have-recovered-from-the |

Virginia is counting the same positives three times. Person has Covid. Positive 1. Person has Covid on retest Covid 2. Person has Covid on third retest, positive 3
It takes a while to clear a virus on testing. This is not three separate people testing positive. |
No. Virginia is counting that as one positive case, one unique person tested and three tests total. You can see the information reported that way on the website. |
There is no cure for those who do get sick Some respond to treatment, for the majority of those recovery is slow and painful |
You say this - STILL - after 70k dead in about 6-7 weeks - THREE TIMES A FLU SEASON IN ONE THIRD THE TIME - AND WITH A LOCKDOWN And not all "survivors" are created equally. Some will be affected -- for who knows how long. Others are just sort of sitting around intubated until they kick it. You lot are complaining because your life just can't go on as normal and those old people and pre-existing conditions people are just inconveniencing you from living your real life. Why don't they just all stay at home so the rest of us Real Americans can get on with living. And I bet the 90% majority of the OPEN UP NOW SNOWFLAKES crowd think they're pro-life. Dems are happy to butcher people in the womb and consider it progress. Republicans are happy to butcher people once they become a hassle. That's considered progress because it helps The Trump get re-elected. This saddens me. |

One consideration is that we don’t know much about the long term impact of Covid19. One disturbing possibility is that young people without preexisting conditions might not get sick immediately (or have mild symptoms) but could suffer later.
One indicator is the 64 children admitted in the last 2 weeks to NYC emergency rooms Another is our military’s refusal to accept recruits who have tested positive because they are worried about the long term health prognosis for these young people https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2020/05/07/health/new-york-children-coronavirus-kawasaki/index.html |
Do we know yet if it can pass through into the placenta? |
How about you learn some statistics. From the NYC and CDC if you have one or less chronic conditions your health outcomes are exactly the same as the flu. Around 50% no symptoms around 49.9% manageable symptoms anywhere from a "cold" to sick for a week or so .1% hospitalization and <.01% death rate |
It’s a way of avoiding guilty feelings. |
Way to prove my point. Just ignore the old and/or unhealthy people, or shove them aside, so you can get on with your real living. So the deaths don't count, because they were all old anyway. (And never mind, if 30-40% of Americans stay at home, it's not like the economy will go gangbusters anyway.) |
The 20% who are most vulnerable should stay home. Many of them aren't working anyway and have pretty low income/buying power regardless. |
Correct the extreme stay at home folks on this site view people who want to open as Trump firebreathers/beneath them Stereotyping is a very low level way of thinking. |

The Arizona public health department shut down the academics who were modeling various reopening scenarios after the governor announced the "easing" of social distancing. They also stopped the scientists' access to special data that the state has on the outbreak.
The government KNOWS that they're creating a huge outbreak, but they don't want you to know. It's 1918 all over again!

So, no matter what the old/unhealthy people should stay home. But, why is it not caring about these people of everyone else goes back to work? Because they will have FOMO? |
A good number of those who died were nursing home patients. A lock down is not going to prevent that unless those giving care are not allowed in. Gov. DeSantis took action that other governors should have taken. He knew who the vulnerable were and targeted prevention toward that population. Just so you know... I am part of the vulnerable population. I am not being terribly inconvenienced. I believe this nation needs to open. I will continue to take precautions to protect myself... staying home more than normal, wearing a mask, washing my hands, and keeping my hands away from my face. There are ways to open our nation with minimal risk. Time to do that. |
