Dear 2014G Blue families . It looks like from these past few pages of posts there is a continued and sustained effort to undermine the collective progress the team has made and the individual progress each player has made over the past year.

It's curious why anyone cares enough to relentlessly spend their time digitally attacking this team of 10-11 year olds and hoping they split up. I hope they find their happiness one day.

This team and only this team decides what it looks like next year. As with any club, players can pursue national league badges anytime. If the coaching is the same, this team will continue to be a strong RL team, with a coach focused selflessly on player development that will position players for many opportunities in the future, with postseason opportunities, guest playing opportunities, and yes, coaches with NL relationships. There could definitely be worse places to be.

To others looking for a 2014 team next year, haters are going to hate on this team now and in the future. It's become their thing. It's almost flattering this team is worth so much of their time.

The number of so-called adults that have been actively trying to hurt this team for their own purposes for the past two years is really pathetic. I really don't know how you all sleep at night. The job of good coaches is to make sure their players are playing at the right level. If a couple 2014s move up to a higher level so be it. This is the natural way of things when you go to 11v11. The 2014 RL team will not implode. It will be strong, just like the older teams. The 2013s lost a couple players last year and are just fine. Same for the 2012s. Same for the older teams.

If some 2014 players move up fine! But this is being facilitated by the coach quietly and behind the scenes. It’s fine if there is an open process that everyone gets a shot but this is just shady stuff of only certain players getting extra training and being groomed for something that is not even being told to others.

Whoever is spilling the beans about these shenanigans please keep up the good work. We appreciate it even if a couple favored parents come on here to flame you.

Um, we're talking about top-level competitive travel soccer. All player movement, whether initiated by the parents or coach, is quiet. If any of this is actually happening in the way you are portraying it and your DD is on the team, both of which I seriously doubt, your open process is playing for ML for a year and having a frank discussion with him about her performance, development, and opportunities.

The whole charade is to keep the 2 paychecks rolling in. Show BSC you add value by bringing in new players that otherwise wouldn’t be heading for BSC. And maintain the paycheck coaching the “not good enoughs” with sweet talk and hollow promises about the future.

Its a clear conflict of interest. That coach doesn't even coach the 2014s at Bethesda so it is clear they are funneling talent elsewhere. No team stays together forever, but they way some of the GFR coaches are doing it is alarming and definitely a conflict of interest. If you were running a business (which GFR clearly is) and and your supervisor found out that you were sending your clients to a rival competitor, you would be terminated immediately. They are paid by GFR to train and develop these kids, not send them and encourage them to go elsewhere to another club THEY WORK FOR AND GET PAID BY. At the end of the year, if the customer wants to try a different competitor then of course that is fine. If the parent wants to look at other opportunities prior to the end of the year, that is fine. But an employee of a business encouraging and setting up opportunities to land clients and customers for another competitor is unethical and violates the conflict of interest acknowledgment that each coach signs at GFR.

Someone is awfully invested in this purported “issue” on a team they’re aren’t involved with. Awfully strong inferences to draw from an anonymous internet post.

Parents actually on the team with skin in the game don’t appear concerned. Not my DD and I doubt this is true at all, but if it were I’d be happy for the girl if it’s what she wants. I love all the girls on the team and want them to have every chance to pursue their dreams. And I want a coach who cares about the development of his players and finds appropriate opportunities for them to develop further.

They may have an axe to grind, however this is not the case. I am the one spilling the beans about all the shadiness going on and it is not just the 2014s, they just didn't hide it too well. I am a parent at the club whos daughter is on a top team at GFR so start your inquisition now. GFR preaches full transparency but obvioulsy we continue to be lied to.

Actually, this is exactly what I'd want my kids coach to be doing. I might not be happy about it if I was the GFR boss lady but if my GFR coach was telling me my kid should be training with an ECNL team because they are that level of player and GFR doesn't have the competition they need to continue to develop, I'd be thrilled. And if that coach could then point me in the direction because of his connections with that ECNL club? EVEN BETTER! Again, BSC is not GFR's competitor.

If you actually think 2 soccer clubs are not competitors, then you need to look up what a competitor is. The coach is actively involved in the process and only sends a "select few" and not open about it. You admitted that if you were the GFR boss lady that you might not be happy about it. If its ethical and ok, why would you be unhappy at all? Because its not ok and violates all ethical norms in business. You attitude just shows, you are ok with anything that doesn't effect or benefits you. There will be a time when it actually does and then you will be the one unhappy about it. It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.

If there is an alliance at least it keeps those players in the GFR orbit and usable.

The difference with those two clubs is their process is transparent and open to everyone to try. If your DC is so much more amazing then the rest then they should be okay having the process be more accessible to others. But perhaps your DC is not as good as you think and back door deals work best for you.

P.S. it’s not a business, it’s a nonprofit whose mission is to develop kids, which this is entirely consistent with.
