Active shooter on Brown campus

I actually thought his "beer belly" could be a front-wearing backpack hidden underneath his jacket

It's wild to me that no one seems to have recognized him yet, it's so rare that someone has both no ties to a crime scene or people who interact with him and are familiar with his demeanor, the weird stance with the hands behind his back. Does he work anywhere? Does he live in the woods alone? I don't really get it tbh

Probably a reclusive quiet guy, usually these types are. Nobody will recognize you if you have very little connections.

Still wonder if the professor--who was not there--was the target.

Also, the Pres of the university not know what class it was in, is quite troubling. Nothing to do with the shooting, but it is odd that she was not curious enough or cared enough to know that.

Are there classes on Saturdays? Why would she ask what class it was in on a day when there are no classes. Obviously it wasn't in a "class." The person asking the question made no sense.

Wasn't a class but 6 hours had passed since the shooting and Paxson being asked that question. To the point above, it is odd that she wasn't "curious enough or cared enough to know" what was actually going on in that room. It was a review session for an Econ class.

Meh, I don't see the issue.

Please do NOT name students who are not suspects. You could be contributing to this student getting doxxed.

Really? You wouldn't want to know who was affected by the shooting? Good grief, I am not connected with Brown and i would want to know.

Brown, Rhode Island and Providence are some of the safest places in the entire USA. Their campus is one of the safest.

You cannot protect against a single nutjob like this, particularly on an urban campus.

We should be going after the guns and the root of the problem instead of quarterbacking and taking the focus from why and how we have crazies with guns shooting up kids (and adults) in America. It’s natural to think it wouldn’t happen at your school, your shopping mall, your place of business because you are so protected. You do this as protection- if you believe you can do everything to prevent this in terms of locks, cameras, etc—-you have lost the battle. You can’t, it’s the guns and the mental health and an administration and chat rooms that invite this violence.

And I’m not even a “liberal” or a “dem”.

+100 the students that were past shooting victims specifically said it’s why they chose Brown

It doesn’t sound like they are ruling out the possibility, based on the latest statement. They just don’t have any evidence indicating that the shooter didn’t act alone.

The guns in the hotel room is strange, but they didn’t match the casings at the scene.

But his cell phone pinged at the building at time of shooting. That’s what led FBI to the hotel.

Where did they get his cell phone number?

FBI tools.

Lots of words but not seeing an explanation of HOW they focused on him. A gazillion cell phones pinged at that building at the time of the shooting.

Wouldn’t be surprised if this was a plot to let the actual murderer escape.

And the incompetent fools at FBI fell for it.

Between the jacket, build, and limp I’m really hoping.

Is the limp from concealing a weapon on that side?

Or maybe a parasite endemic to Equatorial Guinea?

The wild ass speculation here is inane.

Seriously. Nobody knows anything.

Furthermore, the fact that every lib on this board is praying that the shooter is an unhinged white man - and every MAGA is praying that it's a trans/furry/black/whatever take your pick - is just sad.

It’s become a game. Let’s guess the race of the unhinged male lunatic shooter of the week.

It’s so normalized now that we don’t even realize this is not supposed to be normal.

I don’t know when the mass shootings started to become much more frequent. I think it was post 2013.

This. They exposed Brown as having lots of nice, accomplished students, including conservative Christian anti-abortionists studying along with immigrant future brain surgeons. Not the right narrative!

I think social media makes radicalization easier.

Yes but his was one of few cells that kept moving locations. The others stayed nearby, ie phones of kids sheltering in place and no longer moving.
