This is wrong. Both hegseth and trump issued statements before 11:00 last night. Not fans of either but this is incorrect. |
No. Planes take off with the wind and that day going north. The line of planes landing was coming in from the south. Going north. Helicopter was traveling south along the east side of River, then at the riskiest time possible cut west over the river at the airport, intercepting landing planes at various altitudes. Nothing to do with seeing airplanes “taking off” half a mile north of them. |
Nursing a hangover |
Don’t ever go to Heathrow then. There’s a 1-2 hour tornado vortex of jets in holding patterns waiting to land all day long. I have taken many photos of this on short EU flights and some long haul (out of gas jets get priority). |
As of this minute, there is not a single statement, press release or any other information about this crash on DoD's website. Please explain where they provided these "statements" because any individual or press who want information typically will go to the website for press releases. |
+1 So sad for everyone. And DC. And now the recovery search. |
The recovery is in the water, not on the runways. |
So sad to read about the lives lost. Children, sisters, skaters. What a tragedy. |
Still. Horrifying. |
hegseth released a statement last night and a video this morning about the helicopter and the training mission. Google is your friend |
Absolutely! No one wants to see the wreckage beneath them as they land or fly out. Did they close for the same amount of time for Air Florida? |

Had this been a terrorist attack it would likely still be closed because they need to determine if there are additional threats, and more agencies involved. Two things can be true: this can be horrifying, but at the same time DCA needs to get back to business as usual. |
Where did you see that |
The helicopter one will be useful. |
