He’s getting paid by Russia, China, Saudi Arabia, and Israel to destroy the U.S. leadership position in geopolitics and the global economy. They went for US AID first because it created a huge vacuum for China to begin controlling all these 3rd world countries.

Trump isn’t buying options on the stock market. He’s getting PAID cold hard cash to do this.

Yeah how much did that trump coin earn him and where did THAT money come from?

The money he got and is getting from russia, china, saudi arabia etc
the money he got and is getting for "the inuagural" or various PAcs that he illegally hoovers into his personal accounts
and the money he will be getting as companies and countries, one by one, ask for exemptions based on product or geography.

Who said they were unfair? They are economically destructive to the US at the rates and breadth Trump is doing them.

People on this thread, saying it is a tax on Americans, hurting the poor and helping the wealthy.
Don't other countries realize this when they are putting tariffs up?

Did you know that other countries have different internal economic features and social safety nets?

Other first world countries have universal healthcare and low cost universities. And a strong social safety net. The little we had in the US is being taken away right now.

Guess who’s been funding all those benefits for other countries?

Their gravy train just came to a screeching stop.

He and his family bought Moderna in January, 2020. Prescient, no?

Acknowledging the lousy economics of these blanket tariffs, it seems like there will be very disparate impacts across different industries. Those that will benefit directly must:
- have short, domestic supply chains;
- have inelastic demand relative to price;
- be able to get domestic production up and running relatively quickly.

Any thoughts on winners and losers here? A potential winners might be the domestic wine & beer industry - South American and Australian wines have gobbled market share based on low cost. Seems an easy reach to produce more domestic wine. Furniture might be another. The Carolinas used to produce large quantities before cheap Chinese imports took away their market.

Just had a great couple meetings with contractors working on my house in North Carolina far from the beltway bubble.

None of them are impacted by the tariffs. None of them were Hispanic. They lived in the area since childhood, an electrician, a plumber, a contractor and helpers.

All of them support stopping the overwhelming immigration that replace US workers with cheap labor and all of them support tariffs to bring back manufacturing to US.

Maybe we should be able to build our own anti-biotics without the globalists demanding their cut.

Good Day!

OMG just because you say you aren’t affected doesn’t make it true.

Wait till your plumber friend loses business because fixtures are 25% more, pvc pipes more. Those industries are bracing for losses. Look what happened to lumber in the pandemic.

But I suppose it’s all wasted breath to cultists.

+1
How can contractor friend not be worried about cost of lumber?

Because he’s not real and that whole conversation didn’t happen LOL.

Forget the cost of lumber, think about all the things that go into a house or construction project and how many things are made overseas? Think of tools, they will probably double or triple in price.

Huge black market for tools already. People breaking into contractor vans to get tools. Theft will increase.

+1 And that plus higher prices for auto parts will increase car insurance prices.

+1 He’s hosting a Saudi-owned golf league dinner tonight.

.

Why is the gravy train bad? Shouldn’t we all
be able to eat and get health care?

Or does that mean you feel better about gravy if you get it and not other people?

Doubt it. These tariffs won't last long, not long enough to rebuild an industry such as North Carolina furniture. They will last long enough to wreck things but then Congress will wake up and stop the tariffs or Trump will cancel them in order to get universal praise from Americans and everyone all over the world. Probably one or the other will happen in the next few weeks. In the meantime, the American economy will continue sliding and the world will continue getting angrier and angrier.

Do you have any idea how long it takes to get a furniture factory up and running?

Neither grapes nor trees appear out of thin air.

Exports are important for the domestic wine industry and consumers in the rest of the developed world now hate us and our products.
