I copied this from the above link. It is a very healthy approach.

Only a measly 3% of high school lacrosse players actually make it to play Division 1 in college. Seriously, let that sink in before you start tearing apart a family's choice or a player's decision to attend a particular school!

“You have to remember that everyone is coming from a different spot. Some folks will use the recruiting process to get into the best academic school possible, regardless of the money involved. For others, the main focus is lowering the cost of college as much as possible. Some families are focused on playing for the "best" lacrosse program they can play for. All these decisions are fine as long as they meet the family's needs.
Trying to put your priorities onto other families' choices just doesn't make sense since everyone is coming from a slightly different place.”
I will pay you to stop copying and pasting this.

This young lady is a 2025. Swarthmore is a high academic D3 and doesn’t start making offers until the player’s junior year is over.

Good for her! It should be added to the 2025 thread though

You know that’s useless. And to be on an anonymous board asking people to do that is truly ridiculous. And you are doing it on purpose to be annoying.

What IS useful is to have an honest discussion about what parents can learn from these examples. That is the point of this thread. Obviously it’s disappointing for a capital blue player to go to school with an 80 percent acceptance rate. So what happened? What can we learn? Are girls being unrealistic and not focusing on the right schools? Did cap recruiting guide them correctly? School coaches? What strategy tips can we learn?

Somewhat in line with this thinking, after reading the Cap Blue list, I thought none of these schools are very good at lacrosse? High academic- ABSOLUTELY. Only a few schools in the list are decent at lacrosse? It must be the goal for many to play at Ivy’s regardless of lacrosse.

Top 30 programs are beyond “decent” at lacrosse. Capital has eight players in this category.

Many schools are ranked higher at lacrosse because they compete in easier leagues, such as the MAAC, CAA, and Patriot. Therefore, the rankings can be somewhat skewed, as these leagues are weaker than others; this is especially true on the boys' side as well.

Ivy league/high academics schools are exceptional enough, and selective enough, that they attract student-athletes who excel on the field and in the classroom. Based on lacrosse ranking CapBlue has 9 going to top 30 programs (7 Ivy league) and 12 in the top 50 schools with only 5 players left to pick a school out of 21 players. Very impressive especially with only 3% of HS lax players advance to the D1 level as a whole.

It is absolutely the goal! Those families with kids committed to Ivy League schools are NOT focused on the lacrosse ranking. Most of those kids who committed to Ivy League schools could play at any of those top ten programs.
At least at Ivies kids will not be sitting on the bench or dealing with the transfer portal or fifth years. Maybe they passed up a full ride or 50% towards tuition none of that mattered to them. Haven't we had this conversation a hundred times? You forgot to read the post that was copied and pasted a page back that may help you understand things a little bit better.

It’s funny that people think all one should say on this forum is congratulations. That’s not real life and in real life most people have strong opinions about colleges. Even more so in this town.

For many Capital families, unlike families in less affluent places, lacrosse is great fun but is mostly a means to an ends which is getting into a better college than would otherwise be possible. That can be a college with a general acceptance rate of under 20-25% or maybe under 10%.

It’s pretty disingenuous to pretend that no one around here is going to question why a Capital lax player is committing to a college that doesn’t meet that criteria, especially on an anonymous forum - just not realistic.

A lot of this forum is stupid, but the idea that players on any teams are monoliths in their choices is near the top. And that goes both ways in this discussion. I think there are probably fine people on both sides, but I'm not 100% sure.
