Anonymous wrote:Wow! Congratulations! Interesting to see Orange going before all of Blue.

William and Mary is ranked 95th in the 2024 D1 rankings. It makes perfect sense that an Orange player would take this incredible opportunity. Solid choice! Congrats! I doubt W&M is high on the list for a Capital Blue recruit. The Orange and Blue teams are probably targeting very different schools, so whether a Orange or Blue team player commits before the other is sort of irrelevant. they are not in competition with each other.
I disagree. I think you'll see a lot of the back half of Blue's roster pick up on schools like W&M, as usual and like we've seen with several of the Blue commits already. There should be a lot of crossover with Orange. These are all great schools and many families prioritize education in addition to playing lax. Remember, not all families and players have the same priorities as you, and they are looking for fit.

W&M would be a safety for Blue. Would be higher on the list for Orange. In theory, both could end up there and it’s all good.

Then why didn’t we see any of the said blue players visiting W&M announce their commitment? You still need grades to get into that school. Their curriculum is on par with Ivies.
I don't think this is a safety school at all for any blue or orange player. It's a highly desirable school within driving distance of the DMV with great academics and an awesome new coach. I bet some of these blue players are waiting to see all their offers before they decide. They are taking there time to consider ALL their offers. The orange player was smart to jump on the offer. There are players with offers now for 2-3 weeks trying to decide and finish up their visits.
It is still early in the process for many. We still have fall tourneys.
It's not. Just one or a couple of Cap Blue moms who don't want to be considered on par with Cap Orange. Weird.

It absolute is safety for the top half of blue players but i agree it’s a target school for bottom quartile
The top half of Blue have committed. And not all to school options better than W&M. So half left, not a quartile. The condescension on here is amazing. Hope it isn't in the genes.

It has a 37 percent acceptance rate. Not an Ivy
Anonymous
Fine…. Colgate has a 12 percent acceptance rate, gorgeous campus, new young coach. Not an Ivy but certainly more difficult to gain admissions than the others on the list. BUT you seem to be missing the point. Just wish people a congratulations.
Anonymous
Seems to me we are witnessing what has always been said…. Many interchangeable players between Blue and Orange…Not all but most definitely some.
Anonymous
Stop being purposely dense and telling people to wish them a congratulations. That’s not what this board is for. You want us all to come on here and just say YAYYYY!!?? You know that’s useless. And to be on an anonymous board asking people to do that is truly ridiculous. And you are doing it on purpose to be annoying.

What IS useful is to have an honest discussion about what parents can learn from these examples. That is the point of this thread. Obviously it’s disappointing for a capital blue player to go to school with an 80 percent acceptance rate. So what happened? What can we learn? Are girls being unrealistic and not focusing on the right schools? Did cap recruiting guide them correctly? School coaches? What strategy tips can we learn?
Anonymous
I am not the PP that you are talking to, but I am curious what makes you think that the blue player going to a school with an 80% acceptance rate is not what she wanted… Could she have waited and gone to a high academic D3? Maybe but I really think that when you get onto some of these campuses For a visit, you learn a lot more about what you can do academically as well as the experience you will have playing D1. Again… Never say never to any school you have no idea until you are in the situation
Anonymous
Let us also not forget that many schools with 80% acceptance rates have had both blue and orange players committed for many years… yes, You read that correctly… Blue players do not always go to high academic top ranked schools… Let us also not forget that just because the acceptance rate is high overall it does not mean that there are not specific programs that are very highly regarded. Students can always choose to take that path.
Anonymous
The title of the thread is 2026 girls players commits… Nowhere in there does it say anything about commentary and negative scrutiny on peoples decisions. The title is not, “what to learn from the 2026 commits“ You certainly don’t need to be a pompous ass telling people that positivity and congratulations are “dense”. And certainly no person on this board thinks for one second that you are reading and posting because you are “trying to have an honest discussion” and, “learn”. Who are you to pass commentary on anyone’s selection of college? It’s been said over and over again on this board, that people make different personal decisions. It’s not your place to judge. Common decency is not “dense”. If you’re truly interested in some sort of conversation about, “what went wrong“, start a new thread. Perhaps engage people who feel their recruiting experience was not positive or what they wanted instead of insinuating that someone’s selection is not up to your standards.
Anonymous
While I agree with most of what is said above, I do not agree that we cannot have the conversation right here. This forum is known to veer off the topic quite often. I don’t see any issue in discussing what people think may have gone right or wrong in their journey. I do think People with younger kids are reading this and look forward to hearing as much as they can about everybody’s experience.

A friendly PSA reminder----

https://www.facebook.com/...tid=K35XfP

I copied this from the above link. It is a very healthy approach.

Only a measly 3% of high school lacrosse players actually make it to play Division 1 in college. Seriously, let that sink in before you start tearing apart a family's choice or a player's decision to attend a particular school!

“You have to remember that everyone is coming from a different spot. Some folks will use the recruiting process to get into the best academic school possible, regardless of the money involved. For others, the main focus is lowering the cost of college as much as possible. Some families are focused on playing for the "best" lacrosse program they can play for. All these decisions are fine as long as they meet the family's needs.
Trying to put your priorities onto other families' choices just doesn't make sense since everyone is coming from a slightly different place.”
Anonymous
That is a good point. I agree if a parent of one of the commits would like to share their journey, certainly people would appreciate it. (I do think it could be an insightful and valuable separate thread.) My issue is with posters making assumptions and negative comments about players, families, and situations that they know nothing about.
Anonymous
I agree completely. And I would again encourage those with younger kids to keep an open mind. I am the poster child for I would never consider xyz and now here we are considering it.
