He should have been fired already. What a pig.

To Overton’s credit, he did not run up the score nearly as much as Marshall did in week one. That was horrifying.

The Annandale game vs. Hayfield in minutes was a lot shorter than the Marshall game.

Because his friend had just been hired on as principal of Hayfield, and his friend would hire him as coach AND for a full time job, as well as hire his relatives and various hangers-on like the team manager. And, a friend as the principal will look the other way when you use the school property for your AAU team.

And, these kids want film for college recruiters, obviously they will get great clips playing much weaker teams.

By all available facts, it appears you are correct. Query why FCPS would buy off on this, although one can guess.

And your point about film is important. Football recruiting is a chancy enterprise. It is difficult to predict success at the college level unless dealing with 5 star players. The need to gain weight and power at the college level makes athletes success unpredictable. So film against lesser competition doesn’t hurt as much as one might think. So it really is a business. And the Hayfield coach gets to run one, at least for a while.

Michelle Reid is such a filthy piece of work. Talks about "equity" but turns a blind eye at egregious cheating because in this case in makes some Black man look like the Nick Saban of high school sports.

I hope when Overton gets sent packing, and that day will come, Reid gets booted along with him.

Not a chance that Michelle is protecting "some Black man".

I have no idea as to Reid's motives. But she should have assigned someone to the task who really understands athletics. I wrote several pages back that the initial conclusion as to Hayfield football through the internal investigation meant the issue was far from over. Sure enough, VHSL steps in and 9 ineligible players are determined to be ineligible. So in essence they tried to cheat (who cares about the kids who were duped into this?). What FCPS didn't understand is the athletic world. Cheat on this scale and every team and who knows who else will complain to the rafters. I remember from my high school days in Illinois just how much conflict arose when a school tried to play a good ineligible player. I mean, anyone and everyone would complain. It wouldn't stop. Heck, one of the baddest guys on the planet and an incredible player (a truly mean and imposing guy, who reminded me of Michael Graham from Georgetown but on steroids) and who I saw play at the state tournament from the far southwest suburbs was recruited to play for Aurora high school, quite a distance away. The Aurora school district thought their coach could handle the kid better and in that regard they were likely right. The coach was good and if there was a coach to get this kid to fly right it was him. But he was living in Lockport and that is heck of a long way to Aurora. His transfer was in the Chicago papers for months, and it was one guy. Sadly he ended up getting shot and killed at 18 which surprised no one. The kid was used similar to the football players at Hayfield. And this was before social media and the Internet.

Why FCPS thought that clearing the program in their internal investigation was a good idea. They could have found the corruption with minimal effort. Just no way it was going to stick.

It makes FCPS look real bad when Reid is standing in front of parents saying "We checked everything, everything is legit" with VHSL saying they are ineligibile literally an hour later.

So either FCPS lied to the parents OR FCPS is so stupid that they were fooled by these families (when VHSL wasn't).

The youtube video with the parent saying her kid had played for the coach since he was 8 (8!!? do kids even play tackled football at age 8?), was crazy to me.

I cannot imagine any scenario where my kids would have been playing for their high school coaches since age 8. That is not how high school sports teams are supposed to work.

Also, the dad in the video was wearing the t-shirt from the AAU football team the coach charges kids to play on.

How can a coach not show favoritism to players who pay him on the side over the regular kids on the team?

Clearly the youtube channel is associated with the coach. It was like an informercial for him LOL. An actual reporter would have asked actual questions.

I learned from the video that he had accusations of embezzling in PWC as well.

Annandale should have forfeited against Hatfield as a protest. I’ve totally lost any respect for Shawn DeRose that he was willing to have Annandale kids beat up on a field all because he didn’t want to be at odds with dopey Michelle Reid.

The strangest part of the whole story was Reid getting up in front of parents and saying everyone followed the rules, when she knew it was not true. No wonder she refused to answer any questions.

You all are so weirdly invested in this. Do y0u have jobs? Just keep seeing this post at the top and made the mistake of reading it. Can't get that time back.
