Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)
I like how you think - we had almost identical posts lol. Wanna meet for coffee?!! |
Well according to the email, 7 are leaving. I can’t wait to find out who they are. Hopefully it will be the ones who do the least amount of work and who aren’t nice to the students/parents. Then Navy can finally be a great school. |
+1 we are well aware of the parents involved in this crusade. Principal Simms-Smith has been warned about them and rehire ridiculous email already. |
Wait a minute, so now it’s the parents that are the issue? I thought it was the principal. Personally, I can’t wait until some of the lazy teachers at Navy leave! So which is it? Parents or the principal? We all heard about the mass exodus of teachers last spring as well, yet they are all still here a year later. What is it the teachers want? This question has been asked repeatedly with only abstract responses. Be specific. If it’s just a “feeling” of low morale with no data to support then it is difficult for anyone to help. Some ppl do eventually burn out of their long careers and nothing can keep them happy. Is that the case here? Is it a lost cause and if so, maybe own that and stop trying to drag everyone down (Principal, admin, other teachers and parents) with your feelings. |
They fill out a wishlist for the PTO for Christ’s sake and have long lists on Amazon for wishlists. Don’t you dare tell me teachers aren’t getting what they want. |
| LOL. Just popped in bc I was just curious what made this particular post so long. Parents at this school must be the least self-aware group of people ever. “We’re the most supportive parents in the world and all the teachers who disagree with this opinion suck!” Lol, what’s in the water there? |
Don’t get it twisted. Teachers don’t like certain parents - usually those of kids who are out of control because they feel they have no support from the parent or admin in handling the situation. They also don’t like parents that constantly contact them over every little thing that really isn’t a big deal. Their kids are fine but their parents are full of anxiety and then bother the teacher over everything which is annoying. Those aren’t the majority of parents though. The majority of parents are supportive and show this throughout the year. |
| Talking with other parents I can tell you this has been a tough few years for us (and especially our children) at Navy because of the laziness of these very teachers that are now complaining about this principal and parents. We have had to teach our children most of the subject material ourselves because the teachers just throw up videos and expect the kids to self teach. There are definitely some amazing teachers but lately it seems that we are homeschooling because our DC has nobody at school to learn from. At the same time the teachers have taken a harsh tone in how they talk to us and our children. If you are burnt out and looking to leave then please do so and make room for better educators. Most of us parents are tired of doing your job and then having to buy you gifts on top of that. |
Omg yes!!! After the virtual year, we noticed a lot of the lazy teachers just continued to use the county slides they were given that year. I think the real issue is the principal is finally getting on them and asking them to step up their game and they can’t handle it. We are excited for the turnover! |
Speak for yourself. My kids teachers have been great this year and not too many slides. I appreciate the teachers. The grass is not always greener. Stop teacher bashing. I am starting to think that you all don't even have kids at Navy and are jealous and being saboteurs and trying to steal our wonderful teachers. |
|
Lol, what a conspiracy theory! Need I remind you that you "wonderful" teachers started the bashing. Can't handle the heat when the scrutiny is on you huh? Don't kid yourself. . . parents are having to do all the teaching at home now. It is absolutely ridiculous. Navy slideshow teachers are completely checked out, spoiled rotten and lazy. And you teachers 100% know which ones of you are doing this! I am refraining from naming names, but even some of the good teachers I have talked to complain about the slideshow teachers. If you engaged our children with the same passion you put into firing an innocent man, then you might actually do a good job. Still waiting to hear some legit complaints about this new principal. Can't state any on here because you know it would make you look like a fool to say, "we're mad at him because he's asking us to do our jobs." |
This EXACTLY. Luckily the principal has parent supporters who won’t fall for the bs that is going on now. Face it - many of the teachers under Jon got very complacent and lazy and used to doing what they want. It certainly wasn’t best practice for the kids. Good riddance. |
Who is trying to get him fired? The teachers? |
| We love the new principal!!! |
