Do you actually even live in DC? One of the biggest problems with prosecutions is that violent adult offenders get prosecuted by the USAO. The USAO was falling down on the job and that's something that DC has no control over, it's federal. Also, it's not at all impossible to legally own a gun in DC. I own one. You don't really seem to know what you're talking about. |
What?!! lol |
Clearly you've never heard of all of the dipshit things that MAGA dudes do with their big dumb pickup trucks, like "rolling coal" where they install switches that dump excess fuel into their diesel engines to make them spew huge clouds of oily sooty black smoke, usually whenever there's a Prius or someone riding a bike or whatever else. Imagine that, spending hundreds of dollars to illegally modify your truck in a way that will make your fuel economy worse, potentially damage your engine, spew black soot all over your own truck, not to mention you're also breathing that crap in. Takes some serious derangement to do that. And then there's the dipshits who park their trucks blocking EV charging stations and so on. What, lol indeed. You're a clueless fool if you don't know just how toxic and braindead so many of these MAGA truck dudes are. |
SCOTUS has upheld a law barring domestic abusers from owning guns. Lots of opinions but only Thomas dissented.
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/supreme-court/supreme-court-upholds-domestic-violence-gun-restriction-rcna137782 The plaintiff is a scumbag btw. “Rahimi’s ex-partner, with whom he shares a child, obtained a restraining order after an incident in an Arlington, Texas, parking lot in 2019. Rahimi allegedly knocked the woman to the ground, dragged her to his car and pushed her inside, causing her to knock her head on the dashboard, prosecutors said in court papers. He also allegedly fired a shot from his gun in the direction of a witness. Even while the protective order was in place, Rahimi was implicated in a series of shootings, including one in which he allegedly fired bullets into a house using an AR-15 rifle, prosecutors allege. Rahimi faces state charges in the domestic assault and a separate assault against a different woman. But the case before the justices concerns his separate prosecution by the Justice Department for violating the federal gun possession law.” |
This is good. |
SC trying to hang on to some Senate seats for the GOP in 2024. That's all this is. It would look OUTRAGEOUS for the court to strike down weapons bans for domestic violence perps just ahead of the election. That's exactly the grist that turns off swing votes and independents. |
Sadly, there will never be common sense gum laws and this was confirmed with all the children murdered at Sandy Hook. Our legislators care more about the NRA and votes from red necks than they care about children. |
Good. There are far too many violent and unhinged people in this country who have been allowed to legally purchase and own guns. And it's also often those toxic people on the ugly gray fringes of American society like this scumbag Rahimi who are the gateway funneling guns they legally purchased to other criminals who would not be legally allowed to purchase guns and who would otherwise have had a harder time getting them. |
You just had a common sense law upheld. |
Thank goodness but the Bump Stock was not upheld. Supreme Court Ruling on Bump Stocks Could Open Door to More Lethal Weapons https://www.nytimes.com/2024/06/19/us/bump-stocks-supreme-court-guns.html?smid=nytcore-android-share |
Throwing out the Bump Stock ban is just going to lead to more murder, mayhem and chaos. Disgusting. The total opposite of common sense. That ruling was straight out of Idiocracy. |
US v. Rahimi decision was a good decision and upheld a common sense gun law. |
Finally SCOTUS did something to tell “shall not be infringed” to shove it up their @ss. |
+1 It looks like Roberts realized that Bruen was a runaway train and he’s trying to pull it back. |
