| Then why is my father so skinny? |
Different hormones at play for men than women, is my guess. I'm one of 5 sisters between 40 and 50 years old, the only one who doesn't drink, one of two who is thin with a flat stomach and the other thin one gets 90% of her calories from alcohol. I eat whatever I want. |
| Thank OP for posting this. It’s just the incentive and information I needed to read. |
| Is the increased estrogen what cause the increased risk of hormone receptive breast cancer? |
| Then why are French people so skinny? |
| Good thing I'm going sober for the month of November! |

Thanks OP.
I can only lose weight when I cut out alcohol. I haven't had a drink since 9/15, and my weight is dropping. Once I get to my goal weight, I'm committed to keeping my drinking to special occasions. My routine of winding down with a glass of wine just wasn't working for me. As long as I stay properly hydrated, I don't even miss it. |
hey there, me too! |
| Does it matter if the wine is red or white? |

Weight Watchers, which I trust more than I trust you, assigns points to alcoholic beverages based on their calorie content.
I drink and based on my own experience, alcohol contributes to weight gain exactly as you would expect based on calorie content (note I am no longer overweight) |

Because alcohol can create blood sugar swings, it can trigger inflammation and surges in insulin.
But that is true of all simple carbs, right? Sure, drinking considerable amounts of alcohol on an empty stomach is a problem. Ditto for a super sized regular coke. Difference is I never have more than two alcoholic drinks in a day, and seldom more than one (and regularly "skip" days). Lots of people have multiple sugary drinks every day. |
Are you peri or menopausal? The OPs post makes a ton of sense when you are. |
Nope, just some dude that took a class online. |
| Thanks dude! Perimenopausal here with a Menopotbelly. Will cut the wine. |
