There's something to be said about luck. How many of us work so hard to try and find a suitable match with the best most high status man possible so we can give our future children the best outcome.
Despite coming from humble roots and a trashy family she winds up married the most highest status man a woman can find and will now bear children with titles and is secured generations of wealth and financial security. And the best the rest of us can do is marry a doctor? not fair! |
| I don’t envy anyone who marries into the British royal family. I can’t imagine living life like that. |
|
The grass is always greener.
She busted her ass to make herself a high status, high value woman. She is now constantly in the public eye. While it may seem like generations are guaranteed status and wealth, public sentiment can turn on royals in less than a generation. Her every move is scrutinized. Her in laws are some of the strictest possible, and she's fairly low on the totem pole in that particular hierarchy. I am very happy for her, and don't get me wrong, she's going to have some amazing experiences in life. But let's not kid ourselves - she was already having amazing experiences and didn't just snag a price out of nowhere, and her life isn't all roses. |
| I’m jealous of Tom Hanks - talented, beloved and wealthy. |
I dont think her family is trashy. Isn't her mom a social worker (well educated!) and her dad was a producer in the entertainment business? I mean.. I guess her half sister sounds pretty nuts, but her mom seems great. |
This. This board, and its MRA trolls, don't get it. High status millennial men want high status women. Only low status millennial men, imagining what it would be like to be high status, think it's otherwise. |
|
Marie Antoinette also married into a high status family and look what happened to her.
Power, wealth, and status can evaporate in a second. We live in unpredictable times. |
| I’m not. Too much stress with that lifestyle . I’m happy with a combined 6 figure income, living in a tiny house in a nice neighborhood with an all around good guy and not being judged by the world. |
... She wasn't really "high status" the way Prince Harry is or Princess Eugenie is. She was D list celebrity who most people didn't even know. How many higher caliber, more famous actresses wind up marrying nobodies and she winds up with the prince! |
Yeah but Meghan Markle is stunning... How many of you are ugly/average looking? Y'all work your ass off day and night trying to find a suitable match but a high-status man ain't shacking up with no ugly/average looking chick. |
| Doesn't she have to give up her American citizenship? That's a high price to pay. |
She had enough money in the bank to retire tomorrow and have a happy life. For a young, beautiful woman, that's pretty high status. Lovely actresses consistently marry successful men. She was no exception. |
|
She got very lucky but at the same time she knew how to get what she wants from people.
I know several women who are at most average looking, do not have any special talent or education but have somehow managed to marry somehow way out of their league. What I have noticed is that they make their own rules and pursue aggressively after what they want until they get it. |
| Ha! I don’t think you’re the only woman envious of her! I like her a lot, and I’m glad to see someone authentic and friendly do well! |
|
I agree OP. Despite feminist imperatives, it is our feminine biology to want to breed with the most high status financially secure male available.
She totally wins!! A part of me is totally envious of her game. |
