I am jealous of women like Meghan Markle

She worked for this relationship, so good for her. I don’t really consider harry to be a high status man- he’s dim, balding and relies upon his family for living expenses. While he has an inheritance, it’s not as impressive as one would think.

I’m not sure the trade off is worth it- financial security as long as she’s married to him vs having her freedom. Also look at Fergie for what happens when royals divorce...

I’m more envious of Pippa.

That is not a life I would like to live. I have a wonderful life that I would envy if I did not have it!

What is trashy about her?

Maybe the fact that you run around calling women you don’t even know “trashy” is holding you back?

Same! I am so happy for her and think she is stunning, but I would never in a million years want to live under such scrutiny.

It's a high price because ... why?

What does American citizenship get you that British citizenship doesn't?

WTF, OP. She didn't need a "high status" match as she was making plenty of money herself. I wouldn't want her abusive upbringing. I'm personally happy to have a good family of origin. Rich people and celebrities are just as sad and stressed as the rest of us. Being a princess is lame if you ask me.

Pippa seems to have all the benefits and fun of being a royal (I know she isn't technically a royal but you know what I mean) with none of the strict rules, etc.

She did her undergrad and Northwestern and was active as a human rights advocate beforehand - seems like she's worked really damned hard. Which is part of why I find her so appealing - there's quite a bit of substance behind her pretty face!

Despite coming from humble roots and a trashy family she winds up married the most highest status man a woman can find and will now bear children with titles and is secured generations of wealth and financial security.

And the best the rest of us can do is marry a doctor?

not fair!

Are you one of the main anti Kate/Meghan sockpuppeting trolls OP?

If so, good for you to admit your jealousy. It is a good way to move forward.

Good for Fergie not being too arrogant to work for a living.

+1 The scrutiny would make me miserable and that social circle seems awful.

Both of Fergie's daughters have full-time jobs, too. Good for them.

Positives: he's a good looking guy with money who can fly a helicopter.
Negatives: He's a royal so always under inspection. In-laws seem awful.

Not by choice. Andrew has lobbied hard for his daughters to be full-time royals but Charles has cut him off. I think it is one of the times that the Queen took Charles' side over Andrew's.
