I'm not sure it's appropriate to say that Democrats' overall chances of winning the house or senate have disappeared based on this poll. We can see that Democratic men and Republican women have been energized, as well as Independents, a bit.

Meh. Did you actually look at the polling?

Do you think the November elections are important? July vs Now. The needle didn’t move for independents. It increased for both R and DS. But more for Rs, because they started lower.

The question is what happens when this shitshow is over? If K is rammed through, and Trump does six more terrible things before the election, D enthusiasm/ outrage numbers stay high and Rs do not. If K is not confirmed, it probably translates to more R votes. But again, this is today’s news cycle. Anyone remember what we were worked up about 4 weeks ago? (The Anon NYT Trump Admin OP-ed). Lot of time for strong feelings about this nomination to fade before November.

Trumps mimicking of Dr. Ford last night did not help Republicans. He gets in front of "his people" and he can't help himself. He starts it, they lap it up, and he just keeps going.

It's interesting that the biggest jump in enthusiasm came from male Democrats. This is precisely demographic that I would have expected to be the least enthusiastic about the current political climate. But now they are the most enthusiastic group.

What changed between July and October that caused male Democrats to suddenly get hot and bothered, moreso than any other group.

It is almost certain that the Democrats will take the House. If they don't, it will be an astonishing upset. The GOP will probably hold the Senate.
