| Saw a post from another board about recess. Do all schools end recess in 6th grade? Do the all boys school still have it? |
| SSFS has recess through 8th grade (i.e. all middle school). |
| Hopefully never!! Just becomes more casual in high school like a break etc |
| In middle/high school it's replaced by "resource" which is basically study hall. |
| No, not all. |
|
At our DC private, the last year of formal/scheduled "recess" is 5th grade.
In middle school (6-8th), there's a longish lunch, so after kids eat they have some break time and it's really like recess (they generally play or hang out outside) but it's not called recess. And it's only @20 minutes for most kids. |
Because, y'know, boys in particular need mental breaks, fresh air, and exercise. #boymom /s |
I don’t understand the sarcasm. It’s a true statement, generally speaking. |
I’m Not PP, and I’m the mom of a boy. But even I know that, you know, girls need that stuff too. Yes, just as much, even if their behavior isn’t always as visibly poor without it. |
| NCS still has "recess" in 6th grade. |
| At our k -8 there's recess all the way through 8th grade. |
| Blessed Sacrament does not have recess after 5th grade. It stinks!!! |
| At our 6-12th grade school, the kids have a 60 minute lunch time, and they can go outside or to the gym whenever they finish eating (so after 5 minutes for many of them). |
+1 |
| Stone ridge ends after fourth and it’s totally sexist and developmentally inappropriate. Fifth graders are TEN. they should still have recess as should sixth graders! |
