“There is a persistent and alarming lack of accountability in local school systems across the state,” said Hogan. “It cannot and will not be tolerated by our administration.” The article talks about PG County, but hopefully some of this will transfer over to MCPS. MCPS really, really needs someone to hold it accountable. Fingers crossed it leads to some positive changes. Especially when it comes to keeping kids safe from sexual abusers. |
| Let’s stsrt with making sure all schools having working AC. Pg is already closing early tomorrow. |
Really? That's crazy. Hope it counts as a half day for them. |
Our school doesn't have much air conditioning. It was miserable in open house. |
I agree. Calling out the perverts who have infiltrated the schools needs to be #1 on the list. You have to keep your eyes open at all times. Tell your kids you want to know if anyone seems "creepy". |
|
Our AC was on but with overcrowded schools and packed classrooms, it gets pretty warm.
So much dysfunction. In all the counties. |
| Does anyone know if MCPS will follow PG County? If so, DH and I need to make childcare arrangements. |
Do you have an aftercare provider? They will probably cover for your kid. |
It doesn't say HOW this new office will hold school districts accountable. Suppose they find evidence of wrongdoing. Then what will the office do? Issue a report? |
| I for one say AMEN to Hogan for trying to do something about the corrupt practices of our county school systems. MCPS should closely follow PG County for any scrutiny with the child predator problem outranking any other issue. |
I’d be happy with someone keeping an eye on MCPS. And bringing issues to light. Especially exhale abuse issues. MCPS does not benefit from bringing these issues out in the open. It is in the best interest of MCPS to hide problems. An independent commission may be able to get a handle on how widespread the problem really is. It would be a good start. MCPS will not be doing that. |
| About not exhale |

Hogan announced that The Office of Education Accountability will be an “independent watch dog unit” to investigate reports of abuse, neglect, grade fixing, and improper use of funds within local school districts.
I have written evidence to share with the Office of Education Accountability that MCPS ignored. I am more than happy to talk with anyone at the state level in the hopes of helping children who are shark bait in our schools. |
Amen to what? An election year token? Where are the specifics? Why is he coming out with this in September of 2018? Why hasnt he done anything since he took office in 2015? Why are schools across Baltimore closed due to lack of air conditioning? Does he really think we're this stupid? |
Turn it over to the AG's office. The problems that Hogan lists which are big problems both in PG and MCPS are violations of state law. It would be good to see someone go to jail for stealing school funds or obstruction in hiding predators. |
