It’s funny that those teams are all “cream puffs” when VDA plays them but somehow when Arlington plays those very same teams they suddenly turn into the greatest teams in the all the land.

They did not play the same teams. For example, Arlington already played against Richmond, the first place team, which VDA is yet to play. VDA played against BRYC, the weakest team from our area, but Arlington did not. Arlington also played some cream puffs and beat them by big scores, but its early schedule had more tough teams. So far, VDA faced one top level team, NC Courage, and lost by a big score. Arlington tied NC Courage.

VDA 1.12 PPG Average of opponent after 11 games
Arlington 1.36 PPG Average of opponent after 9 games.

Arlington had a tougher schedule and more importantly did not get blown out by NC Courage.

They will all end up with the same schedule. You are so dumb.

We are comparing the strength of schedules that these teams already played, genius. If VDA gets spanked in the next two games by Richmond and Arlington, which have stronger teams, VDA will drop to midtable.

VDA beat Richmond.

I am sure the Arlington and VA Union parents will find a basis for quibbling on behalf of their little Chelseas.

It was a Arlington parent who predicted VDA would be mid table after they play Richmond and Arlington.

VDA’s kick and run won’t work against Arlington.

Are you serious? FCV got a big green up arrow for beating Boca and Penn Fusion got a big red down arrow for losing to Boca.

You seem to gloss over FCV's tie to a lower ranked FC Bucks and a loss and win against a lower ranked VA Union.

Beating low ranked teams like Skyline 1-0 demonstrate how the overall level of competition in GA will begin to work against FCV over time.

But what FCV did get was big red down arrow for beating Skyline 1-0. This is the risk of being in GA. Sure, you're winning games but nobody cares because of who the competition you faced. The reality is FCV needs every win and every social media post to stay in the spotlight.

FCV's record against ECNL teams over the last year is 3-2-2. While a small sample size the games were against mostly mid to lower table ECNL teams. While it doesn't paint a complete picture but even 3-2-2 with a +4 goal differential is in stark contrast to a current GA record 0f 7-0 with +15 goal differential with the same number of games.

And it doesn't get better when FCV plays against top 100 teams in GA.
GA Playoffs they went 1-1-1 with a -2 goal differential. They tied 105th ranked Morris Academy, they beat 85th ranked City SC and lost badly to 12th ranked TopHat 1-4.

The also lost to 41st ranked NEFC 1-2 and 36th ranked Beadling 1-2. Their goal differential against other top ranked GA competition is -2.

There is no evidence that FCV would fare any better than in ECNL than mid table. They currently only beat lower competition and occasionally still find ways to struggle against lower ranked teams at times and they fail to deliver consistent performances against equal to higher ranked teams than themselves. There is a reason they are so excited about winning WAGS, it is because beating teams better than them doesn't happen very often it at all.

They are a good team and on their best day they can run with anyone but they are simply not consistent enough against equal to better competition to ever call them "Elite".

Excellent post. Explain how well Arlington is doing then?

Arlington is currently in 6th place in ECNL. They finished in 3rd in GA last year. They have gone 1-1-1 against 3 of the top 4 ECNL teams they have faced this season so far. They are doing about as expected. They are closer to mid table than they are to the top of the table.

Charlotte SA hasn't posted their scores yet but they lost to Union Saturday and tied Loudoun Sunday. They'll drop down to sixth or seventh while Arlington will move to fourth above Loudoun due to goal differential I'm assuming since both will be 2.0 points per game. Arlington had a great weekend, they didn't play and will move up in the standings.

Actually you're only sort of right.

Loudoun won and tied. So the Standings should be:
1. Richmond 2.6 PPG
2. VDA 2.44 PPG
3. Loudoun 2.37 PPG
4. NC Courage 2.17 PPG
5. Arlington 2 PPG
6. Charlotte SA 1.85 PPG
7. CESA 1.75 PPG

VDA should not be ranked that high. It’s kickball.

It's just numbers based on goals scored and given up. Its not about style points.

Understood, but NC Courage played VDA off the field, when they played each other. It's not just style points, it is also the level of play. VDA does well against lower level teams, but they struggle against better teams.

Teams struggle against good teams, who would have thought.

Apparently Arlington didn’t ??

Arlington are a good team

Arlington is 1-1-1 against teams that were above them in the standings. They tied Courage, lost to Richmond and beat Charlotte SA. After this weekend with Loudoun getting a tie and Union beating Charlotte SA that doesn’t make Arlington’s win look as impressive right now.

Arlington certainly is in the mix but this weekend move up in the standings was thanks to other clubs performance during Arlington’s bye.

But overall NOVA clubs are performing above expectations. Arlington is getting the results that I thought they would, which certainly are good, but they are not going to finish on top but they will range between 3rd to 5th.

NOVA has some exceptional teams at the 2008 age group. I think we expected the table to look as it does now

VDA is certainly doing as expected. Arlington is doing well and Loudoun and Union look to be hitting their stride. It is possible that all but BRYC could end up in the top 6 in the division.

NC Courage has the following record against NOVA "exceptional" teams: 4 wins, 1 tie (Arlington), 0 losses. Goals scored: 21 Goals allowed: 2. Only Arlington and VA Union were able to score against them.

NOVA clubs doing well does not mean that Courage or Richmond are not exceptional clubs.

Richmond went 2-2-2 today. Not exactly exceptional.

VU beat Loudoun 0-3 in what could have been either team winning. Loudoun beat VU 2-0 a few weeks ago. Both teams did great

How does a team almost win when they lose 0-3?

I think PP probably meant to say VU won 3-0 rather than 0-3.

VU won 3-1 and lost 0-2 v. Loudoun (tourney). Agreed, seem evenly matched, not too aggressively coached, equal talent and mutual respect. Mid table teams providing competitive games both hi and low.

Union won 3-0. This might be the first time a 3-0 game would ever be described as “anyones game”.

Arlington will be top 3 in ECNL

1) RU

2) Arlington

3) VDA

Arlington has been practicing all summer and will dominate the DMV

You should move VDA down further. They are not nearly as good as Arlington.

Just reading some posts from pre season

They have not played each other, have they? We will find out in January which team is better.

Yet Loudoun beat Union 2-0 and completely controlled the game only 2 weeks ago. This is anyones game Loudoun had 1 bad game but both teams are average
