GIGO. |
| I hear you but that’s what they say! |
Then why is over 65% of D1 Players from the ECNL? Add in GA and overseas and it’s probably 85% or more. |
| ECNL Girls alumni comprise 70 percent of players in Women's College Cup. RICHMOND, VA – The NCAA Division I Women's College Cup is currently taking place in Cary, North Carolina and this year, much like every other season, it is brimming with ECNL alumni. |
You think people here think technical ability is #1 priority for girls soccer? I think the consensus of this board is it’s: 1) aggression, 2) speed, 3) size, 4) “foot skills”. |
Look the top 2-4 players for every ECNL team can make a D1 rosters but will never smell the NCAA tournament. Everyone else is scrambling and fighting to play at a college where the 15 year coach has a 20% win record. Playing in the ECNL does not mean you will be playing at D1 power conference or D1. Some will but they are great athletes and would play in college no matter what league/team they played in/for. Look at your club’s college commitments. 95% of the girls would get in to the college they committed to without soccer. They are not recruited like college football or basketball and the majority of colleges do not care about soccer. |
The girls get recruited by soccer programs and many of them pick their school based on academics rather than powerhouse status of the soccer program. |
Absolutely. DD will be doing the same. The numbers don’t lie though. D1 is dominated by 1. ECNL; 2. GA; 3. Internationals; 4. Other leagues. In the future, I believe Internationals will move up to #2 followed by USYS (after GA folds). |
Is that before or after womens pro soccer completely collapses in this country because nobody but girls soccer parents care? |
Not sure if you noticed that Women’s Pro Soccer Worldwide has actually been expanding…but I would expect someone with such a stupid comment to not know better. |
I did indeed notice that, just as it is contracting domestically. When you won’t have frontrunning USWNT teams, the collapse will be swift and total. We are heading in that direction here. |
Wish I had 10 bucks every time there was a gloom and doom prediction on this message board about the future of a team or club or coach or sport or league, that never comes true. I’d be a rich guy |
| Barcelona was on top of the world for a long time, when they fell look how far they have to climb back to the top. |
| I recently watched this documentary called Avengers End Game. Apparently there are a lot of elite athletes on the girls side, they’re just not doing soccer. Lots of potential especially in the nyc area. |
|
Elite general athletes don't always make the best soccer players. They DO make good goalkeepers but soccer also requires a lot of training and hundreds of hours with the ball no matter how athletic you are.
Usain bolt tried playing low level pro and couldn't do much (and he had played soccer growing up!!) |
