And yes Riverside, Robinson, Yorktown would prob have a competitive contests with EHS, STA. Depending on the year, EHS can field strong teams

I actually think the nova public’s listed above would beat BI, the Heights, Good Counsel, Ryken, and O’Connell

After the top 4 in the WCAC there is a significant drop off between the 4th and 5th place teams in terms of talent.

Nobody thinks the heights or albans are powerhouses. But what we do know is that these schools would beat your NOVA public schools. The talent speaks for itself, but on the more important aspect let’s look at coaching. Are you gonna argue that any NOVA coach is 1/10 as knowledgeable as Mitchell/Heeter?

How about the actual commitment a team has to their porogram, how well they play together… those are all thing that come in private school lacrosse and why private will always destroy public.

Even if school A & school B are 100% equal in talent, of school A is a WCAC school and school B is a NOVA school, A will always win. School A will be practicing together 3-4x week in offseason to build chemistry. School A will have an actual coach that knows lacrosse. School A will have more invested players.

These posts give way too much credit to coaching. The reason private schools are better programs is all about attracting better talent. Many public school programs also play off season together. Many privates will have new coaching staffs this year. There is not one public school that has close to equal talent to a top private school program so can’t even compare.

Severna Park, Broadneck, River Hill, South River, Westminster, Century, Glen Elg, Howard, Hereford, Fallston, Towson, Catonsville, Marriott's Ridge, Kent Island, Queen Annes, Churchill, Quince Orchard, Urbana, Linganore, Moddletown, Northcounty, and Hebron would demolish any private that is not a top tier

Severna Park or Broadneck or Hereford or Kent Island would beat all of the privates mentioned above.

Severna Park has beat Spalding, Gilman snd Severn in the past

Severna park run is over 2022 and 2023 classes not very good.

Spalding and Saint Mary's were able to recruit away some kids who would have ended up at Severna Park HS.

Nice try slipping Churchill in there. Every single IAC and most WCAC would beat Churchill. That’s proven.

It more than that too. The kids who make Varsity at privates who aren’t club lax players are still generally better athletes from other sports. Being good at athletics helps in admissions to private schools so they tend to overall have a more athletic student body as they chose their students. Private school teams have better benches, even the not as good lax schools, as publics.

Not one 2023 commit did not play club. All the top players public and private play club. All of the public school commits play club. The key is which schools align best with the clubs. The kids already arrive as freshman knowing how to play. It is just that privates have more club kids from one of the big four clubs it is that simple.

Public schools can only use players within their own boundaries.
SJC pays for the talent.
Prep had to go to Richmond to get a player to finally win a championship.
Landon uses its long tradition of excellence to attract talent.
Gonzaga uses God.
Yorktown has players moving from across the country trying to be a part of the new power in high school lacrosse.
All the other schools compete for the scraps/leftovers.

The Yorktown thing is over played and not that funny anymore. On the other hand, "Landon uses its long tradition of excellence to attract talent", now that's funny. Not sure I would put excellence and Landon in the same sentence ever. Not to mention their well publicized history of badly behaved boys.

Yorktown is just not that competitive. Sure they have one or two good players but the ranks are filled with rec team kids who have trouble catching and passing. Good luck this year.

Pretty accurate, except for the Yorktown part.
