There’s nothing all that surprising and I wouldn’t think there had to be any terribly unique circumstances. For crimes like that, not to mention what the biker did, there wouldn’t usually be jail time for a first time offender, at least locally. (I’m less familiar with VA since I don’t practice there.)

I love in the same neighborhood as this guy. I don’t know him, but I’ve talked to a few people who do. These aren’t people who know him well but they have all said “he seemed like such a nice guy.” I want to hear from some of his actual neighbors because I suspect there may be more to the story.

I didn’t see him at the BLM protest in Kensington last night though.

Or he had a really bad moment that just happened to be captured and go viral. That’s not to excuse what he did or to say he has been an angel whose never lost his cool before, but to assume that he is necessarily some monster who regularly behaves this way may be mistaken.

I don’t know this guy and he certainly could be a jerk through and through. But people posting here also don’t know him and can’t know whether this was out of character or not.

I would think that after you had a criminal judgment against him, that you would be able to sue him in civil court to get back any money that his assault cost you in time off from work plus any costs that your insurance did not cover, plus some additional for "pain and suffering". Did you sue him for damages?
