And since "tryouts" may not happen until who knows when, and not everyone will be the same player then as they were in February before this all went downhill, it might be in their best interest to do the "take everyone" (and their money) approach and then let the fight for play time/being rostered take place among paying players. Creates a bit of a college situation, doesn't it?

There will be no "existing" team in McLean when ECNL tryouts start at best in late 2020.

There will be no teams, just a bunch of players, many unfit. The ECNL tryouts will take the best 20 who show.

… on some teams, I could see 75% of the current McLean squad being relegated to B.

Mclean don’t they promise top team to 30 or so girls and cut down in August?

They go back to pre-2107 and reestablish their connection with Mclean. Not hard to figure out.

McLean already blocked Arlington. They have veto power. That's how ECNL works.

How does McLean have veto power? Are they in charge of the ECNL? I've heard this exact statement from a bunch of parents. Does each team get one veto?

Don't make the mistake of thinking ECNL is in the business of anything other than serving its member clubs. Sometimes new club expansion benefits the member clubs, and it happens. Other times, not so much, and it ain't happening.

Arlington, FCV and MU ain't happening. Instead, ECNL will let McLean, Loudoun, VDA and BRYC try to bleed those ex-DA teams of their top talent. That helps the member clubs and the overall league.

I am going to make you all very happy, YES! FCV will get ECNL I just heard from a reliable source but if they don't every child will take over every team at ever level and WIN at life. Listen coming on here and trying to figure out what will happen next is ridiculous.. comical, YES! but, ridiculous. You won't know until you know so go to bed its way past all of the soccer parents bed times.

Mclean might have been able to “block” Arlington in the past when Mclean could threaten to take their girls’ teams and go somewhere else and ECNL had to make a call to have one or the other. But I doubt there’s actually a formal veto power.

If any youth player wants to do a history assignment on what early internet trolling was like, the above is a great example. It really was that bad. ex-DA parents, do you really think your posts are influencing ECNL framing their league? Although I do agree, every ex-DA player will be moving to tryout at ECNL clubs.

This is exactly my thoughts
I see them absorbing the players into their core clubs and dismissing those former DA clubs as a whole. Whats in it for them to absorb another club? The answer lies in $$$ or the impact of the current member clubs. In a region they need/want an established club they will invite that organization but in a region that is saturated like Northern VA with existing ECNL what do they gain by taking on more clubs? Mclean Loudoun VDA and BRYC likely make out with additional player interest and volumes. The talent pool within ECNL grows and all is good as far as they are concerned

Maybe. But if an alternative is presented for DA girls and the talent doesn’t go to existing ECNL clubs, ECNL shoots themselves in the foot by gambling that players will move. Plenty of time for new options to emerge locally and nationally that can sell to the top talent. Should that happen ECNL will be back to it’s second league status in the region.

Adding the ex-DA teams would gain ECNL leadership the following:

1. More money. Maybe close to double.
2. Eliminate any chance of an alternate league to compete with them.
3. Give them complete leverage with USSF improving scouting opportunity for all members.
4. Improve college recruiting for all members by being one stop for D1 coaches.

It’s looking like DPL is going to become the league for ex-DA teams that don’t go ECNL. When you look at their website it looks like it was designed for the larger DA clubs to have their second team play in a competitive league. I’m assuming now that there is no DA the top team will move to this spot. Has anyone looked at the list of clubs? I’m guessing it’s been radio silence because they are getting everyone signed up and will do a big roll out. However, FCV is now listed. Arlington is probably waiting to see who else joins. Their parents are less likely to be interested in doing all their league games as overnights. FCV parents are used to extensive travel. Any soccer nerds out there go through the list of teams on their site and see if any of those clubs has jumped to ECNL?
