Last Saturday’s run:
8 miles Slow pace - watch stopped tracking so no numbers |
Some weeks turn out bad for exercising.
And that’s when all roads lead to the couch after a long, long work day. This is not a complaint. It could have been worse. There could have been no dried mango supplies at the store. I am also grateful for the medical results that ruled out the bad and ugly. Have a good night, DC. The neat city of monuments and cool museums. |
10 miles
Elevation gain: 764ft Pace: slow |
Does one have to qualify for NYC or Marine Corp? |
You don’t have to qualify for MCM. |
Here is some info regarding qualifying for NYC:

Extreme fatigue - day 3.
So frustrating. Negative for COVID. |
12 miles - check.
Wiped out once but no major damage so should be able to lick the wounds to heal and get the half done. |
That fall was actually bad. The bloody knee took some time to heal and now I have an ugly scar that sticks out as somehow it healed with a much darker color - like what the hell?! Usually, the scar color blends but not this time.
But the other knee was a real problem and caused doctors visits. Meniscus tear was suspected. I was limping and upset and worried this may be a long term problem. Just when an mri was due like in a few days, I cancelled it as the knee started feeling better at last. The pain gradually went away, fortunately, while I pulled out from exercising. Just easy walks remained. Bottomline - I had to take a 2-month break. Signed to an app based plan. Started today with 2miles ![]() May be this sounds like some kind of a saga, but I do look forward to the restart. |
6 miles
Slow pace Most beautiful trail Need to gain weight |
14 miles done. Pace is around 13.
But I have to walk more to avoid some injury again. Miles are actually a coping mechanism for grieving. Miles put me back on my feet, both literally and figuratively. I’m still it sure I can do 26.2 but I will keep working till my body revolts. |
Just want to applaud and acknowledge your comeback after an injury! My husband is also training for the same race after a foot injury. Great work! |
Thanks so much for your reply. Good luck to your husband. |
I got my first ever half marathon medal today - bishop events Georgetown race. However, this was a tough race as I pushed myself all the way.
I handled my race-prep-day wrong. I don’t want to go into this too much but sleep and runner’s diet are key and I could not do it. I will be better disciplined next time FOR SURE. I struggled with some fatigue the whole week (which caused night time anxiety), so showing up alone at the race was hard. Sad thoughts hit me midway — so I’m dedicating this run to him but it’s not gonna bring him back… This was very strange like the pill that expired. I had to shake it off and re-direct my thinking. The runners community was just amazing - those who turned around already were shouting out encouraging words - so sweet. After the finish, it took me some minutes until I could actually feel good and smile for the picture. I’ll find a hematologist to rule out whatever it may be.
