Because outside transmission is extremely rare. BLM rallies and studies of outdoor transmission have made that clear. No one is stopping you from wearkng your mask outside or inside. You do you.

Sunk costs. Much of the country never masked outside and their case rates were no worse. Hard for people to admit that something they did made no difference.

An unmasked kid or adult no longer clears the equipment, but it is not terribly common yet. My son and friends all still wear masks when playing outside. Age range is 10-13. All the high school kids that run cross country wear masks while cruising through our neighborhood, too.

Interesting. Per CDC estimates greater than 40% of kids were infected with Covid by March of 2021.

Seems there is lots of immunity even in the child population. And so many kids were infected even with masks and other measures. Not sure what the Portlanders are waiting for.
