And this is why the teacher was a total asshat and shouldn't be working with children. The appropriate thing to do at that age is just to go with the flow. Not to correct and moralize and tell a kid, "no, you are a boy because you have a penis. Don't tell me otherwise." If the human with a penis wants to be identify as a girl, SO WHAT? Why does the teacher care so much? Either it's a fad that will pass or the kid genuinely identifies as a girl for the rest of her life. But no teacher has any place arguing with a kid like that. It's beyond ridiculous. In any case, the only reason he won was the policy isn't promulgated yet. If the policy is in place and he follows through on his promise to violate it, he will be fired and it will stick. Also don't forget Virginia is a right-to-work state; the district should be able to fire him for any reason whatsoever. |
Re: Virginia being RTW. I believe this is why they are challenging his reinstatement. The trouble and upset he has caused his school, coworkers, the district with this should be sufficient to say his employment no longer serves his employer. |
I get what you say about moralizing, but why would a young child want to be identified as other than their gender? This is not something they think about. This is a subject that needs to be handled sensitively maybe starting in middle school. It has no place at the elementary school level. This is an adult concept that is being foisted and introduced to young children. They wouldn't be asking to be identified as the opposite gender if the subject were not being foisted on them. Agree that teachers should not be lecturing students on gender issues. Neither should any other adults! Definitely not the media, which is all about $$$$. |
I don't agree that's being "foisted" on younger children. That's just unsupported nonsense. It's like suggesting teachers are "indoctrinating" kids. First, you don't know that "this is nothing something they think about." Of course it is. In fact I'm pretty sure many kids at one point or another have thought, "I wish I were a <other gender>." The only difference is no one is shaming them anymore for having these thoughts now -- excluding intolerant people who hide behind invalid religious "beliefs" or are otherwise thrown into a bizarre panic at the thought of this, as if it actually affects them if little Johnny now wants to be called Johnette and be referred to as s/he. I mean, when it comes right own to it, the teacher obviously believes that Mary was impregnated by magic and that Jesus was raised from the dead. I mean, he BELIEVES these tenets of his faith. Even though the vast majority of the world doesn't believe that, there is space for him to hold those beliefs and live his life accordingly. So, who is he to tell a child who believes he is a she anything otherwise? Leave the kids alone. Respect their wishes. Indulge them, if you will. The only "indoctrination" here that's happening is lessons on tolerance and acceptance. Which is a good thing. Any teacher whose "deeply held religious belief" would move them to invalidate a child's stated identity is just an ironically horrible person who by the tenets of his faith is doomed to burn in Hell for all eternity. And shouldn't be teaching. |
The right is obsessed with children's genitalia. |
WTF? You are nuts. So now we are required to reproduce? What fascist crap is this? You're from Cornerstone Church right? The church that hate built. |
Jesus was a brown, socialist Jew and would have no issues calling people something that makes that person happy hth |
Teachers are indoctrinating kids. Look no further than schools that are assigning Kendi's "Stamped." Even the co-author Reynolds calls it indoctrination. Disgusting. |
You are nuts. Absolutely nuts and there is no reasoning with you. |

Jesus called a lot of people "sinners" and the Pharisees a "brood of vipers". He had a lot of harsh words to say to many people. The nice, tolerant Jesus you describe, who's happy with everyone doing whatever they want, in violation of his moral law, simply doesn't exist. |
A lot of people ARE sinners. Kids using pronouns are not among them. |
ftfy |
Well obviously but this entire post is specifically about an elementary school teacher not using them, hence the distinction. |
Don't force other people to go along with the wrong pronouns and science. |
