When you say lot of lacrosse players reclass, do you mean actually repeat 7th or 8th grade? Solely to improve their positioning for lacrosse? I've heard of folks delaying entry to kindergarten or 1st grade to be the oldest in their grade, but are folks really having their kid repeat middle school grade just for club/private school lacrosse reasons? Guess I'm a little naive but can't imagine how parents explain to kid or others when they ask...

Yes typically at 8th grade. It’s ridiculous.

It is crazy. My son is a Spring bday and in age, and there are at least 5 kids on the 2027 team that are older than him. All Mater Dei kids, shocker.

I actually look at it him competing against older kids as a badge of honor, as does my son. He has kids on his own team that are 14 months older than him. And yet, he still trot’s out there on the first line of middies. Proud of him.

You wouldn’t notice whether a kid’s friend is suddenly in a different grade?

No, probably not, since it would likely happen before kindergarten or after 8th grade.

Before kindergarten is not a reclass.

Probably is when people do it purely for sports reasons, which does happen.

Before kindergarten? Very rare “purely” for sports reasons, in middle school, very rare not “purely” for sports reasons.

Madlax 26 just went 4-1 and BLC 1-4 in this past weekend’s NAL tournament. They didn’t play each other, but based on those stats I think OP has his answer about which team will be better next year.

its really hard to predict the future for these club teams beyond the scores. who knows about blc but among madlax 26s reclassed players, theres a player who just reclassed as a 26 for a short lived summer..... right before he attends high school this fall.

How many of those ML 26 players were actually 2025s is the question.

I was surprised by how badly BLC performed, not just the 1-4 record, but also who beat them and the scores. Anybody know what happened?

I wasn't there, but they lost to Sweetlax, PA Roughriders, Leading Edge, and FCA Maryland. Those are not usually weak teams, and losing to them is no disgrace.

BLC played those teams closer than the score indicates. Next year’s DCE 2026 team will be fine. Their coach is a class act. Future is bright for that team.

I’m sure that 10-3 loss to PA Rough Riders was close right up until the end.

You can follow the Mater Dei trail on re-classes. How many does ML have and how many does BLC have? That probably tells you how many re-classes are on each team. Or at least pretty darn close.

The summer roster has at least two attackman, one middie, and one D-pole who have reclassed from 2025 to 2026, so the number is higher than three.

If you are trying to decide which program is better for your son, why does this metric matter? Both ML and DCE express have their share of holdbacks or reclasses. You can view this as good or bad, but I would not recommend choosing one team over the other by counting the holdbacks on the roster.
