Not talking about U-little playing on a elementary school field. Plenty of those. BSC practices at Wooton, Walter Johnson, and Richard Montgomery. Those fields are taken by the schools right now.

What level team, though? When my son played DA a couple years ago, it was 4x a week with an optional 5th during part of the year.

Normally DA teams practice 4 times a week, however due to no fields, they are practicing 2 days/week and maybe on the weekend if they don't have a game that weekend.

ECNL 1 teams practice 4x a week w no games. 3x a week if games. Other teams get less field time but top team gets more than enough. Note I did not say ecnl 2. There is a big disparity between field time for the top and 2nd teams

U-15 through U-19 are going back to 4 days a week. Can't blame a club due to covid, high school scheduling and crappy county supervisors scared of kids with minimal transmission playing outside without bubbles on.

How much of a disparity between ECNL 1 and 2 teams? Is ECNL 2 a glorified B team, or are they genuinely respected within the club?

It’s a B team with an ENCL name.

Some of their ECNL 2 teams are a huge drop from the first team, so much so they are almost rec level. Check the game records and do your homework to determine which age groups have a steep drop, it's fairly obvious

The club doesn't pay much attention to the ECNL 1 teams. Some ages can't even fill their rosters. Goes without saying that the ECNL 2 is a nothing to the club.

+1. Really depends on year. I would describe more as a spectrum. But there are some it’s super steep drop.

No - older kids need to learn just as much as the younger ones. They absolutely should not be at the skill level they will be at for good.

The problem is that there are few coaches who are able to teach the older kids because it requires them to have a lot more knowledge themselves. So in many cases you are correct and the older kids do stop developing.

ECNL team 2? There is respect and even movement when it’s warranted. Team 2 coaches rate players and the ECNL Director is always asking. Some clubs - like BSC - team 2 may be the place for two sport athletes or they choose a different path

Even Ecnl 2 teams are getting 3 days a week on the high school fields.

Moco played high school soccer the last 6 weeks or so so some teams had less practices to prevent injuries and over practice

Ha Kevin or some other BSC board member. That is a completely false statement.

There is 0 attention paid to 2nd team. If you want to go to the top team and are on bsc 2: First, leave club, go to different team. Then, go back and tryout. I challenge anyone to say even one girl between u 13 and u 17 moved up from the 2nd team after being with the club more than 6 months (occasionally a girl will come in and get slotted at ecnl 2 but gets moved up within 6 months)

This literally has not happened in years and I guarantee no one will contradict this with actual facts. The fact the poster I quoted said this with a straight face is ridiculous. Has to be has to be has to be a coach or board member.

There are 4 girls - all starters - on the ECNL I team at U14 who came from B team. One of them was originally on the C team before being promoted twice.
