Do they really expect people to turn down all other options on the off-chance they might get off a WL? That makes no sense. I thought the point was that you forfeit your deposit if you change your mind and they then pull someone else off the WL.
That's a different thing.
Double depositing is putting down two deposits on the same time. It is unethical. When you did the Common App you signed something saying you wouldn't, and if you do you can lose both spots, as you should. Putting down a deposit, and then notifying that school and forfeiting the deposit when you accept a WL offer is totally ethical.
