What is posh? To some, Atlantis might be posh… to others St Moritz is pedestrian. We need a common definition to even begin to help. And, why is “posh” a gating criterion - don’t you want to go somewhere you’ll enjoy regardless of how “posh” it is?

So many places in Greece this year (Hydra, Paros, sifinos)….no one who is anyone goes to Mykonos or Santorini anymore.

Those places are not off the beaten path…

When we were childless DH and I spent Christmas at the Savoy in London which was glorious. We had the pool to ourselves and took an early morning walk over the bridges. FWIW we actually are from London and lived in London at the time, so we were not American tourists by any means.

I’m from Daytona and I grew up quite posh. Thank you very much!

Posh-place visitors, what do you like about visiting the posh places? Is it that the posh amenities make it easier to enjoy the unique features of a particular location? Is it the relative solitude?

Some places are just nice places and become posh because people who could afford to go anywhere think they are worth a visit and for whatever reason they resist over building.

Then there is a certain amount of fun in people watching in posh places, or spending a few hours in that world.

Posh in Daytona means you get hash browns at Waffle House smothered AND chopped

People in Italy seemed to dress up more on a daily basis. Bermuda to me is posh for the reason. People, men, wear jackets with Bermuda shorts. To me, there are posh restaurants and hotels within locations almost anywhere. Posh is artwork, clean, service with a smile. I feel posh when there's a doorman. LoL. I feel posh when there are cloth napkins.

There's always some man who refuses to take his hat off indoors, and that ruins the poshness. And there's always some woman who wears inappropriate clothes, and that ruins the poshness.
