you can always volunteer to have your kid drop down to gen ed math to keep numbers even |
So what would you have them do? Our child is in AAP math only, and has been since 3rd grade. Should he suddenly lose a year of math? If you are so concerned, then maybe worry about the eating lunch or the other kids in the class also, and maybe just don't send your kid pack in person. That's an option too. |
Have you expressed this concern to your child's principal? Whining here won't help you. |
Many classrooms, AAP or otherwise, will have 13 or more kids attending. It sounds like your kid's full AAP class + gen ed push ins is around 28-29 kids, and it sounds likely that there will be at most 13 kids and probably a lot fewer in class with your kid. My kids have always been in classes with about 28-30 kids. Last year, my gen ed kid had a classroom of 28 kids, with around 34 total in gen ed advanced math. My AAP kid was in a 29 person class stuffed into a trailer. There are many large classes in FCPS, and they are taking that into account with their hybrid plans. It is likely that most classrooms can accommodate at least 16 kids while still maintaining 6' social distancing. OP, you should keep your kid home. You're so consumed with fear about being exposed to covid that you're making a lot of irrational arguments. For the sake of your own mental health, keep your kid home. |
Not OP but I am an AAP parent and in the PTA and we are advocating to have non-AAP kids who take advanced math in AAP classrooms just dial in to the class from their classroom. I don't care that the gen ed classroom are more crammed than the AAP classrooms. One of the benefit of AAP is the small classes and I don't want the health of my child compromised. I hope the Principal listens to us in the PTA. |
The Advanced Math kids are already in the class with your kid. They go for math. Deal |
The PTA won’t support you unless the center is huge. Those push in kids live in the neighborhood and have been part of the school for longer than your kid |
Most PTA parents at my school have kids in AAP and it has always been politics. They get their kids what they need and the rest of the school comes next. Don’t believe? Open your eyes a bit more. |
Pray tell what makes you think that's a benefit of AAP-its' not necessarily depending on the school. And why do you think your child is more entitled to be in person for class than an advanced math kid? I hope the principal doesn't honor the Karens in the PTA. |
TROLL |
My kids were at a Level IV school and for sure the PTA moms are tight with the AART (who also lives in the community). The last year we were there, a ton of PTA money went towards buying things that primarily benefitted the AAP kids. |
That's just sad. |
Shrevewood??? |
Navy? Look, this can be any school because I've seen it at our schhool and you've seen it at your school. The PTA definitely yields influence on AAP. |
This has to be a troll. AAP classes are not smaller. That's not even allowed. You are just trying to make people angry at some imagined entitled PTA lady. LOL, good job. |
