Ok. This is where you are going wrong. PBK is not an “investment” piece. Two reasons: it is poorly made. See earlier posts about mdf and the wearability of finishes. And two they are very trendy looks. I know you don’t think they are trendy right now because you are young and have not seen enough of the style churn, but in 10 years, your newly pregnant family members will not want something beat up and out of style. I know this is hard, but please take this advice from a woman who has been around for a while. Ha ha. |
| Didn’t we just go through this with the OP a few weeks ago? |

Regarding resale value: I had an IKEA crib that was less than $100 and a organic mattress that was more than $200. When I went to sell all of it together including used crib sheeting, I went for $50 and had several people interested and made a deal right away. It makes me feel good that the stuff we bought went on to be used again for another baby.
I bought PBK furniture for my kid's bedroom when he grew out of crib. A twin bed, nightstand and dressers. I am happy with it. We are in the city with small rooms so small-scaled furniture works! It is white and is looking good, but my kid does not play in his bedroom, only sleeps there. I think it would sell if I tried to sell it, but I don't lnow. As it is, it will work for us for several years. |
OP- at the end of the day if you like it and can afford it just go ahead and get it- an extra $1,000 amortized over several years isn’t a big deal. I, and several others on this thread who have actually bought and used PBK cribs have told you that in our experience they have not held up well and don’t have great resale value but you seem to believe otherwise and don’t really want to listen to contrary experiences, so not sure why you even are bothering to ask on this forum. |
| MDB looks better. I like the dresser much better than the PBK one too. |
Link? |
| These are both nearly identical in every way. I can't imagine spending more than double just for the brand name. |

No it’s this thread with the exact same advice. Any bets on if there will be a third thread from her on the same topic? |
Forgot to include the original thread from OP https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/937696.page |
7 pages from over a month ago and still undecided? OP, just make a decision already. |
| Honestly, no. You are going to be buying more furniture when they are older and you will be surprised how fast they grow out of it. |
| Definitely not worth 1K more. Neither are my style but mdb looks fine and not that different from pbk. |
|
OP here. Yes that is me. I can’t make a decision. Every time I got to buy PBK I hesitate. I wanted to try one last thread about not your experience with the items, but if hHe 1K cost was worth it.
|
| OP here. Now I know it’s not. I will go with the cheaper option. I love both but they’re so similar and not sure if 1K is worth it. |
