Is It Worth 1K More?

One is the Million Dollar Baby Foothill Collection ( crib, dresser with topper, and toddler conversation kit) and the PotteryBarn Larkin collection. I really like both. MDB collection is about 1200 and PBK is about 2500. I know PBK has good deals value but really wonder if it’s worth an extra 1K? I plan to use it for many years with 1-2 kids and then pass it down or sell it.

I know there are other cribs that are cheaper but these are the only two I like.

Oh boy.

OP here? What? I can’t have a favorite nursery collection? There is nothing wrong with have favorites with furniture.

A waste. It will look terrible by the time your child is 5

Everything I got from PB has been so sturdy.

5 years isna good life span for something used so often.

The cheapness of some people stuns me. Why not have a nice nursery?

Honestly, the stuff from Ikea holds up better than Pottery Barn. Plus, there are too many stories about the estimated shipping delays being wildly off and delayed by months and months.

A crib/toddler bed represents such a short window of time. Honestly, I'd get a nice dresser that can grow with your child so it doesn't look too nursery-ish when they are 10 and go cheaper on the crib with toddler bed conversion.

I’ve known several people with PBK stuff who loved it. They hated the shipping but liked the furniture.

I'd love to know which styles. It's all so poorly made.

The Larkin and Kendall ones. I know 4-5 people with these collections and they all really like them. They had them for multiple kids and also got a good resell value on them.

We have the Kendall. The crib was good and without issue, but I don't recommend any of the other casegoods.

Some call it cheap. Some call it not throwing money down the drain.

$1000 isn't much in the grand scheme of things. Can't you splurge on anything.?

Because they can't afford it. 3 of my friends have had children during Covid. Only one couple, oddly enough the same couple who bought a house (in this area) a year into marriage, also set up a full nursery that was furnished.

The other couples are mostly living out of their living rooms while WFH and the babies have a corner of the adult's dresser for clothes or plastic storage tubs.

BTW the other 2 couples immediately started complaining about a lack of space and newborn stuff piling up in multiple rooms as soon as the babies were born.

The couple that didn't have complaints? Already had their kid stuff packed and stored in a nursery with everything they needed.
