MV8. Deadline to accept is today. We accepted. |
How are they deciding who gets this offer? Also, is there anything about pending covid rates? I saw the earlier chart which MV put out which clearly showed they would only do hybrid in person if case rates go back into the yellow territory. |
An email from Deborah Dantzler Williams came out yesterday at 5:01 pm. And, the IFA vice president re-sent the link to the survey re: returning, which is due Monday am. |
right. but they sent the survey out to families yesterday and said they need to see what the responses are like before they know what is needed to create the cohorts, etc. I am super frustrated about my kids being home, but I'm being hopeful; I understand if you aren't feeling that. |
I just feel like a survey with only one question is not going to be very helpful in planning. To me it feels like they are slow-walking this. Only surveying the teachers this week is another example of slow-walking. |
I have no idea. Why don’t you ask admin? Did you not attend the school re-opening meeting?? They are moving forward and starting hybrid. I mean the whole meeting was based on that and so was the chat questions and Q &A. In addition there have been multiple emails about dates, planning logistics, and DL modifications to be ready for this. Rates in the city are down and will continue to trend down as more people get vaccinated every week. |
Not at MV so no, I can't ask or attend. At another school which is also holding up the same type of metrics for reopening. The trend may not continue down since the new variants have now emerged in DC. I doubt a massive spike but hitting targets may be slower. |
Look at the guidelines the CDC just put out. DC is already at target to be fully in person, not even just hybrid. Also now that vaccines are here, and teachers have gotten vaccinated, it’s a totally different ballgame and numbers game. Even with the new variants, the vaccines are thought to still be effective. Also more importantly, the data you really need to look at is prevention of serious disease and hospitalizations. Those numbers are really good. COVID isn’t going away. The new reality is that it will be like the flu, causing mild disease in the majority of people, and we would need a shot yearly. Hybrid has started or will be starting for lots of schools. The momentum will pick up and increase in these schools as the teachers/students get used to the new routine. Hopefully your school will be pressured to get on board eventually. |
While I agree, you’re misreading the cdc chart. DC is in the red just like the entire country. Now schools can use this to never reopen. |
My mistake. I did. But that’s for middle and high school not to open. Elementary the recommendation is hybrid. |
What health history considered high risk for children? |
