They are doing both - expanding CARES classroom and starting live instruction hybrid with 100 kids.

I attended the meeting and the 100 kids was total for both campuses and includes both CARES-type classes and hybrid. Very few kids from each grade will be offered a hybrid spot and will likely include primarily disadvantaged kids [/quote]

I’m PP above. That is incorrect. I attended the meeting and it’s 100 students for hybrid.  They currently have 60 or so students for CARES and plan on expanding that too.

Also, is there anything about pending covid rates? I saw the earlier chart which MV put out which clearly showed they would only do hybrid in person if case rates go back into the yellow territory.

Did you not attend the school re-opening meeting??  They are moving forward and starting hybrid. I mean the whole meeting was based on that and so was the chat questions and Q &A.  In addition there have been multiple emails about dates, planning logistics, and DL modifications to be ready for this.

Not at MV so no, I can't ask or attend. At another school which is also holding up the same type of metrics for reopening.

Look at the guidelines the CDC just put out.   DC is already at target to be fully in person, not even just hybrid.

Also now that vaccines are here, and teachers have gotten vaccinated, it’s a totally different ballgame and numbers game.

Even with the new variants, the vaccines are thought to still be effective. Also more importantly, the data you really need to look at is prevention of serious disease and hospitalizations.  Those numbers are really good.

COVID isn’t going away.  The new reality is that it will be like the flu, causing mild disease in the majority of people, and we would need a shot yearly.

Hybrid has started or will be starting for lots of schools.  The momentum will pick up and increase in these schools as the teachers/students get used to the new routine.

While I agree, you’re misreading the cdc chart. DC is in the red just like the entire country. Now schools can use this to never reopen.[/quote]
