If DMV schools don't open in the fall, are you moving?

Who says people are doing this to avoid stress? It’s about the education of their children. Some people are willing to sacrifice for that.

People just aren't willing to parent their kids. I get it.

Your kids are getting an education - that mommy and daddy aren't resilient and can't hack it. And to the women out there doing too much work, either your husband is horrible and lazy or you aren't letting him participate. Your kids are learning that too.

I want to parent in a world where there is in person K-12 school & I’m going to advocate for that and I don’t have any shame in it. I strongly value education and the school as social center pedagogy (John Dewey).

+1. Don't let the WTU trolls shame you. They started flooding this site to try to shame parents who want schools to reopen. They're not changing anyone's mind, just showing us how bad many WTU teachers really are.

What town is this? I’m in MA and every district except one that I know of is switching between remote/hybrid, depending on numbers, or staying full remote. It’s crazy up here due to the hold the teachers unions have on these small town school districts.

Really? We have friends in a Boston suburb whose K kid has been in school full time since the start of school. Public school.

Because of closed schools, as well as closed museums, indoor dining, and the majority of people who are able to work from home, are working from home. Of course it is safer here in DC than in Florida where schools are open. Feel free to move. I am happy here knowing my family is safe. Bowser, like her or not, has kept the city safe from covid, Schools can stay closed. Schools will open in the fall, maybe sooner, like term 4.

Imagine how much better we'd be right now if Bowser hadn't waited about three months too long to shut down indoor dining again. But hey, at least the city's bros got to drink indoors all fall while our kids were shut out of their schools. Makes perfect sense.

I bet indoor dining reopens again before the schools reopen.

Bowser has not kept the city safe from covid.

Mommy why can’t I run at age 20.

Well you over whelmed me when you were 8 during a pandemic so we moved to Florida so you could go in person

I believed if I kept saying covid doesn’t spread in schools it would be true when 25% of DCPS cares classrooms have kids and adults w covid.

But i kept saying learning loss when I meant i could juggle my schedule and your dad was no help.

Hey with all this lack of learning loss it will be great when your kids physical exertion level is sitting on a couch. They can read and read then.

It’s a pandemic. Suffer and deal and eventually it will end

Where do you get your information?

Please present some data that closed schools play any significant role in keeping infection numbers down.

I know, you can't.

Have you ever heard that correlation doesn't equal causation?

Stop spreading misinformation.

You're literally getting paid to educate our kids. I see no reason why parents should continue to do a large portion of your job for you. Coming to this forum to be belittle parents who want schools to reopen isn't helping your cause to keep schools closed; it's only showing parents that WTU teachers don't value our children's education.

Don’t forget charters that are closed. So I would take WTU out if your statement and just say teachers.

Same here. The spring is still up in the air, but I fully expect that schools will be open in the fall. Vaccination uptake in DC seems to be pretty high, and they've opened it up to teachers. I expect widespread vaccination by summer.

I hope you are referring to the “mommy and daddy aren’t resilient” troll and not to the last poster who is speaking the truth.

Yes, we are considering moving. We cannot afford the private school prices here, and the competition to get in and thrive in DC privates is really intimidating. So we are considering moving to a much smaller town with a private school we can afford. I am sad that we are driven to this decision. DCPS was great for my kid for a few years. We imagined we might need to make a change as DC got toward middle school, but we didn't expect to be driven to this decision so early.

4 more adults in DCPS are positive.

Yeah - if cares with small numbers can't stop spread why would schools open not be infestation hubs.

BTW schools only provide 7% of learning to a child. But you keep screaming that you are doing teacher's jobs.
